RAYMOND CIWKO Peacefully with his family by his side Ray passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He will be missed by family, friends and co-workers and especially by his wife Antoinette (Toni); his daughter Erin and son Ryan. He is predeceased by his mother Pauline and father John. Ray was born in Winnipeg, spending most of his youth in Transcona. He graduated from Murdoch MacKay and attended Red River College receiving both his telecommunications and computer analyst programmer certification. He worked at a number of grain companies and later settled in as a network administrator at Seven Oaks School Division. He was a bit of a risk taker in his youth, enjoying his many toys, especially his vintage 1961 Corvette. Ray and Toni were married in 1989. Ray took a lot of pride in his kids accomplishments. He was happy with the young adults they had become and wanted only the best for them. He took an interest in both their lives and attend as many of their functions as he could throughout the years. He was a hands on guy, who always enjoyed working on different projects, whether it was construction, vehicle repairs or computers. He was not afraid of a challenge in order to get it done. His latest project was renovating the family cabin. Though trying at times it was a job that provided him a lot of satisfaction. He enjoyed chatting and updating the Star Lake neighbours of the progress on the cabin. Unfortunately, he fell ill and was unable see the full completion. We will try to make him proud and finish what was started. Cremation has taken place and as per Ray's request a private ceremony will be held. Thank you to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and especially Dr. Martin. Our family would also like to thank everyone who helped us out during this trying time. There are no words that could relay how grateful we are. Please visit book of memories at www.wheelerfuneral.com

  • I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Ray’s passing. Although I haven’t seen Ray in some time, I remember him as a loving husband and a very dedicated father to Erin and Ryan. I remember how involved Ray was with all of Erin and Ryan’s activities, and it seems like yesterday that I saw Ray at the kid’s soccer and volleyball games. I also have many fond memories of Ray at Manitoba Pool, he was the IT ‘Go To Guy’ who could fix anything! Toni, we are so very sorry for your loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with you, Erin and Ryan. May your many memories of Ray bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time. • I'm so sorry to hear of Ray's passing. I knew him from work at MPE in the good old days. He managed the tech department and was very knowledgeable/good at his job. He was easy going and had a good sense of humour - I really liked to visit with him and his crew. My deepest sympathy to Ray's family. He was a good guy. - Posted by: Susan (Cordy) Randall (Former co-worker) on: Jul 27, 2015
