Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Oh Teddy. You were first a neighbour. I was twenty years younger but I do remember those water fights in the summers. If only the hoses could reach across the street. I babysat all three of the kids and later worked for you at the good old 594. My mum always thought you made that posting happen so you could watch over me. You gave the toast to the bride at both my wedding and at Trish's. You will always be a big part of my life. My deepest sympathies to Marion, and all the family. - Posted by: Susan Colli (Neighbour , friend, coworker) on: Aug 16, 2015

  • Our deepest condolences Marion. - Posted by: Norm & Marilyn Chubey (Friends from the Good Sam RV Club) on: Aug 14, 2015

  • TED was my first manager at store #594 in 1972. He hired me and he probably regretted it the rest of his life, lol.. He will be sadly missed. Tracey and I send our condolences to Mrs.Bowman and the entire family. We are so sorry for your loss.. - Posted by: Gord Huston (Friend and exboss) on: Aug 13, 2015

  • Ed "da Bear" was a wonderful individual, loving father and friend. Ed was an outstanding manager. Mrs. Ramsay, Clark, Hart, Downey, Rodych, Burbank, Severyn and Mulvenna, to name a few, attended Ed's finishing school. As committed as he was to Safeway he was especially proud of Marian, Jim, Britt and Kim and his role as husband and father. Ed left a great legacy in his family and the numerous employees he shepherded during his career. He will be missed and his memory cherished. - Posted by: Chuck Mulvenna (Mentee/friend) on: Aug 13, 2015

  • Mr. Bowman was my first store manager at 594 (the former Westwood Safeway}. I had worked for him from 1974-1978, and although he could be a tough store manager (after all he was called the Bear) ... he was fair. I remember that they even had a bear regulator where the arrow would be pointed on his mood for the day...it was all in fun. I also had the pleasure of working with Brit and Jim throughout my many years with the company. Tom and I send our condolences to Mrs. Bowman and the entire family. So very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Wendy Mulvenna (coworker) on: Aug 13, 2015

  • So sorry for your loss. I will always remember Ed for his dry sense of humour and his friendship. Will Tabas and family. - Posted by: Will tabas (Co worker) on: Aug 13, 2015

  • Will miss Ed's warm smile and his zest for fun in life. He had a great sense of humor and could always be counted upon if help was needed. Ed made a difference and will be missed. - Posted by: Wayne Buzahora (Friend and co-worker) on: Aug 12, 2015

  • So sorry for your loss. The first store I worked at when I worked at Safeway in the '70s was at Westwood where Ed was my first manager. He was the best and fairest manager I worked for before getting hired by the Union. I always enjoyed my time in that store and Ed made it fun by treating everyone like they were family. I was pleased to run into him again later in life at a Christmas concert in Lorette where his grandson and my youngest daughter went to school together. I know he will be missed. - Posted by: Susan Hart-Kulbaba (former co-worker) on: Aug 11, 2015
