Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALDA ISLA BERGQUIST It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donalda Isla Bergquist (nee Diehl), on July 1, 2015 following a short illness with her children by her side. She is survived by her children David, Paul (Deanna), Darcie (Kyle); grandchildren Trynity, Shayla and Livia; great-grandchildren Jersie and Ameerah; nephew Joe Armstrong (Marie) and children Amelia and Alexander from Australia; brother Randy Diehl (Ann) and nieces Sarah and Katie from Kamloops; sister-in-law Leeann from Winnipeg, sister-in-law Mavis from Edmonton and many cousins and friends. Dona was predeceased by her husband Wayne Bergquist (1989); father Howard Diehl (1984); mother Isla (1988); brother Charles (1996); sister Ethyl (2013) and special aunt Edna (May 2015). Dona was born on August 2, 1947 in Winnipeg. She grew up and attended school in Fort Rouge and Charleswood. She lived in Winnipeg her entire life until the past year when she moved to Georgian Bay, Ontario to live with her daughter Darcie. Dona lost her husband early in life and faced the difficult task of being a single parent with dignity and strength. Dona successfully operated her own consigner clothing store (Second Look), with long time friend Bernie MacKenzie. For many years and prior to that, she volunteered at Christ the King School. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. There were many family gatherings and memorable events at her home in Southdale and at her beloved cottage at Grand Beach. In the past year, she moved to Georgian Bay to live with her daughter Darcie and her family. The highlight of her day was being delightfully woken by her granddaughter Livia. Dona was fun loving and she had an infectious giggle that spread through a room full of people in a flash. Dona loved her family, her friends and her many cats. Her spirited laugh and generous caring soul will be deeply missed by family and friends. In keeping with Dona's wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations in Dona's memory may be made to CNIB. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO.
