Cyril was born January 4, 1920 in Frindsberry, Strood, Kent, England and raised in Chatham, Kent. He was predeceased in 1994 by his beloved wife Audrey Muriel, of 43 years; his parents, John and Caroline; brother Harold; brother-in-law John; grandson Daryl Forbes; great-grandson Michael Forbes; as well as his special friend and companion of 11 years, Joan McLeod in 2013. In 1939 Cy joined the Royal Air Force in England and took an aircraft mechanic course. In 1940, as part of the Commonwealth air training program, he was assigned to Carberry, Manitoba to provide ground support for the trainer aircraft. During his service with the R.A.F. he received two medals, defense and war. After the war Dad moved to Winnipeg where he worked for Eaton's as a house decorator, before joining Bristol Aerospace in 1952 as an aircraft mechanic; retiring at age 65 as a superintendent. Dad was a devoted member of the United Church since 1951, where he met our mother and developed lasting friendships with a young peoples' group. He has been a member of the congregation at Kirkfield Park United Church for over 30 years. Dad was a member of the Foresters Club since 1958 and a member of the Western Canadian Aviator's Museum since 1997. He enjoyed playing pool and canasta, wood-working, gardening, music and traveling with our mother Audrey. Our father loved his home and his family and we were his priority. He gave us his time, his wisdom and his love. We are thankful that he lived his 95 long years with honesty, compassion, a touch of humour, good health and lifetime commitment of providing for his family. We are blessed. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Cornish 2 at the Misericordia Health Centre Interim Care, for their gracious and respectful care of our father. Memorial services will be held at Kiwanis Courts, 2300 Ness Avenue on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Major John McFarlane of the Salvation Army officiating.
