DAVID GEORGE MCKENZIE June 23, 1946 - August 30, 2015 Following a brief illness it is with sadness that we announce the passing of David (age 68). David is survived by his large family and a diverse group of friends. David's journey came full circle with many highs and lows along the way. The good times are well remembered. The troubled times separated him from his family and his many, many friends. During the last part of his journey the good had returned, but memory of the bad could not be forgotten by many who knew him before and during his troubled times. Below is a portion of a letter dropped off at our home by a friend addressed to David's Family. It is a beautifully worded sample of the man David was. "I am deeply sorry to hear of David's death. When I look back at our relationship, I will always retain the good memories of the earliest years of our friendship where he took me under his wing, befriended me and laughed with (and at) me. He was a unique, charismatic and truly generous individual and we had many good times together. He always treated me decently unlike many other individuals that I grew up with. After visiting him at the hospital, after only seeing him once in the last 30 years or so, I realized that, in many ways, I still loved him. In my last words to him, I told him he will always, always be my friend. He will forever be forged in my memory." Cremation has taken place and at David's request, no Funeral Service will be held. A special thank you to all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, especially those in E6. Thank you to Arden, David's new hospital friend. Thank you to Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home for their valuable assistance. Thank you to the friends who came by to visit with David, your visits meant so much to him.
