BARRIE JOHN KOSIE
Born: Dec 21, 1952
Date of Passing: Sep 11, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARRIE JOHN KOSIE December 21, 1952 - September 11, 2015 Just as he wished, Barrie fell into a restful sleep and didn't wake up. He found the peace he was searching for. Born in Fisher Branch, Manitoba, Barrie spent his first twelve (12) years growing up on the family farm. His family then moved to Arborg, where he helped in the family owned restaurant and was a proud member of "The Shadows". He enjoyed telling stories of his misspent youth and did not apologize for any of it. Barrie loved his wife Nancy, his sons and family. He was looking forward to watching his grandson grow and was hoping to encourage him to be a Habs fanatic - just like him. He was especially proud of his sons. He spent a lot of time with them, got to know their friends and never missed any of their hockey games. He encouraged love for the Habs, the outdoors and his eclectic range of music. He was committed to expanding their sense of fun and independence. He truly liked who they have become. Barrie will be forever missed by his wife Nancy, sons Laurie (Ashley), Erik (Jessica) and grandson Jaxon. He leaves his parents John and Jean Kosie of Arborg, brother Ken (Jeanette), nephew Brent, niece Rachelle and their families. He leaves a hole in the hearts of the Mandziuk clan and many aunts, cousins, friends and neighbours. He touched many lives and we know that all those close to him will share their stories of Barrie for a long time with smiles and laughter. In accordance with his wishes there will be no funeral, he hated them! The family will be holding a Farewell Viewing and Remembrance and are welcoming all those who knew Barrie to join them on Friday, September 18, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. Memorial donations may be made to Kids Sport Manitoba: online at kidssportcanada.ca; by phone at 1-866-774-2220, or in person at 145 Pacific Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2Z6. Very sorry to hear of your loss and our most sincere condolences to you and your family Nancy. As the former owner of Heads-Up Automotive I found Barrie at Red River Community college as a young man in the process of completing his trade in Automotive Mechanics. After completing his trade course, Barrie came highly recommended by his instructors. Barrie was highly skilled and did precision work, he went onto becoming my top cylinder head machinist instantly. His skills through the years put him in an elite level of his trade in Manitoba. He was a incredible employee at Heads-Up Automotive for over 30 years and simply can not be replaced. I was a very fortunate man to have Barrie work along side me all those years. His loyalty, commitment and work ethic to the company was inspiring. I will never forget him. Based on his commitment at work I can only imagine how dedicated he must have been with his wife and family. We will all miss him. Rest in peace Barrie. - Posted by: John Shinnimin and family (Friend/employer) on: Sep 18, 2015

Dear Kosie Family: I remember playing with Barrie and Kenny on the 'Topolnicki Farm in Fisher Branch when we (Marlene and I were little). We looked forward to our summer vacations in Fisher Branch and the Kosie farm is the first place we ran to. Barry was the 'baby' but he always kept up. With respect - Barbara Sabanski (our Mom was Mildred Topolnicki). - Posted by: Barbara Sabanski, Pinawa Manitoba (Childhood Friend) on: Sep 16, 2015

You will and have been missed already Barrie, by your friends and colleagues at Headsup Automotive, where you were employed for over 30 years. Your daily smirks or Hab's comments, all the while unrelenting silence in your corner of the shop, that we were so accustomed too, has been missed since your absence. May you rest in peace and the peace you were searching may also be a comfort for the family and friends who have a void in their heart for you. Forever in our hearts and memory....R.I.P...Dermot and Karen Crotty, Al Peck, Grant and Jasmine Perdonic, Marc Seguin, Dylan Moroz, Mike Presley, Drew Hayduk, Randy Schmidt, Doug Birston, Owen Halldorson, Les Jones, Norma-Jean deKeyster, Brandon Kudluk - Posted by: Headsup Automotive (employer) on: Sep 16, 2015
