Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRIAN K. SIGURDSON With deep sadness in our hearts, Brian K. Sigurdson passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on September 11, 2015. Brian was born on August 26, 1951 in Gimli, MB, moved with his family to Winnipeg, and later resided with his wife Vera in Stony Mountain, MB. It was in recent years that he returned back to Gimli. Brian was predeceased by his wife Vera, his mother Margaret, sister Ingrid and his aunts Nona McEachern and Hedy Hendy. Brian is survived by his father, Walter Sigurdson of Gimli; brother Stephen (Kellie) of Winnipeg; nieces November Varga of Calgary and Adair Sigurdson of Winnipeg; great nephew Brody of Calgary and great niece Gunnar of Winnipeg (baby in above photo); his aunts Mabel (Roger) Tinguely of Gimli and Leslie (Jack) Samborski of Gimli; cousins Vincent and Greg Tinguely (Melody), Toni Wildman (Alan) and their children Eric and Sarah, aunt Sina Finley of Gimli and several cousins in Gimli, Winnipeg, Ontario and Quebec; as well as his late wife's family in Britain and his partner, Linda Dorian (RAVEN) who made his life happy again. Brian was a pilot early on in his life and then was employed by Motor Coach Industries for over 25 years in Winnipeg; as well he worked at Rona. He had been retired for the last several years. After the loss of his wife Vera in 2013, Brian started to look at life differently. He took up yoga and held an annual November event in his home for the group. He took ballroom dance lessons, had family BBQs, and dinners, and enjoyed travelling. He loved anything to do with transportation - airplanes and flying, boats etc, with plans to join the Gimli model plane club. Brian was a great handyman; he fixed up his home in Gimli from the inside out with many plans yet to come. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to others as well. Brian will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. "Cheers to you Brian!" A celebration of Brian's life will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gimli Waterfront Centre's Johnson Room followed by refreshments. Interment at Gimli Community Cemetery will follow the reception. Brian loved animals and nature, in lieu of flowers; the family asks that you donate to the Gimli Humane Society, 204-642-4775 in Brian's honour. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Just met Brian recently with Linda Dorian and thought to myself that he was a superb gentleman. How tragic that one so young would pass away so suddenly when he had a whole life to live for. My sincere condolences to the family and to Linda. So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Ingrid Bennett (aquaintance) on: Sep 25, 2015
