Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHARINA (TINA) PETERS (nee FEHR) 1922 - 2015 Peacefully, on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Bethesda Place in Steinbach, MB, Tina Peters of Winker, went to be with her Saviour at 93 years of age. Mom was born on May 20, 1922 in the Village of Neuenberg, Manitoba. She was the eldest of seven children born to John and Katharina Fehr. Upon her confession of faith, she was baptized in the EMMC Church in the Village of Reinland. On September 10, 1944, mom married David D. Peters. They spent 62 plus wonderful years together, most of which were spent in Gnadenthal, where they farmed and raised their family. In 1988, they retired and moved to Winkler. All her life, mom enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking for her family. She also loved being involved with her church, including bible study, ladies group ("Neiferein"), the library and serving for missions. When they moved to Winkler, she started volunteering for MCC, Salem Home and Ladies Auxiliary, where she spent many hours preparing food and serving at fundraiser banquets and always did this with great enthusiasm and dedication. Our mom sacrificed totally for her family's well being, and that caring and giving character extended beyond our family. She opened her home to many, including her nieces and nephews, who often came to the farm for summer holidays, as well as her sister-in-law Lisa, whom she cared for and lived in our home for almost 25 years. Her love knew no bounds. Mom's Christian faith was very important to her. She lived it and spoke about it often. Reading the Bible and her involvement in church were cornerstones of that faith. She would also quote and share many Bible verses with her children and grandchildren to offer encouragement or to drive home a lesson she was trying to teach. Billy Graham was a huge mentor in our mother's Christian walk. She supported his missions her whole life. Mom was healthy until the age of 83, when she developed heart disease and had major heart surgery. Over the last four years, she became weaker and was unable to be cared for in her own home and in January 2013, she moved to Bethesda Place Care Home in Steinbach. She was predeceased by her husband, David D. in August 2007; son Howard John in infancy; one granddaughter Tara Lynn, in infancy; two sisters, Susie and Helen; two brothers, John and Abe. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dorothy and John Peters, Alfred and Arlene Peters, Carol and Vic Penner, Linda and Terry Penner, Randal and Sherry Peters, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, sister Elma and Isaac Friesen, Winkler; brother Jake and Tina Fehr, Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Mary Fehr of Winnipeg and Susie Harms of BC; brother-in-law Peter Friesen of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews. We, as a family, would like to thank the staff at Bethesda Place and Palliative Care for the loving care they gave our mom. Also thank you to Wiebe Funeral Home, the Ministers, serving group and all those who contributed to the service. Thank you for the prayers, thoughts and kindness shown to her by many. Special thanks to mom's sister, Elma and Uncle Isaac for their regular and faithful visits and the support they gave to her and us. Also to Paul and Elizabeth Peters for their regular visits and years of friendship shown to our mom. This was a great comfort to her and to our entire family. Mom, we love you and praise God for His precious gift of a mom who truly defines motherhood. You have been a mother who has done all the service tasks and have done them diligently. But most importantly, you have been a true example of a servant of Christ. We know when you entered heaven God said, "Well done my good and faithful servant." Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (today) at the Blumenorter Mennonite Church with interment at Gnadenthal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tina's memory to either the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, MCC or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
