GARY GIBSON Gary Gibson passed suddenly, though peacefully, on Friday, September 18, 2015. Gary will be forever and deeply missed by his children, Kristen, Jenny, and Daniel; his grandchildren, Jacob, Katelyn, and Caleb; and his older sister Dawn. Gary was predeceased by his daughter, Candace; his brother, Lyle; and his parents, Dennis and Bernice. He was also loved by numerous unmentioned family and friends across the globe. Gary was born in Winnipeg on October 31, 1955. The youngest of three children, Gary was an avid curler in his youth, and loved his summers at the family cottage on Willard Lake, ON. Gary also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with family and friends on Lake of the Woods. Gary was driven in his career, working his way up from a job as a labourer and then milkman, earning his accounting certification attending night classes, and eventually serving the people of Manitoba as Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance. He enjoyed the challenge and fast paced energy of his work. Gary loved his family and friends, and was always able to crack a joke and make people laugh. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 27, at the Delta Winnipeg Hotel, 350 St. Mary's Avenue from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, and in honour of Gary's great love of animals, donations can be made in Gary's name to D'Arcy's A.R.C., www.darcysarc.ca/how-to-help/donations or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, www.winnipeghumanesociety.ca.   • My condolences to his family but especially to Dawn. I was the Gibson family's next door neighbour at Willard Lake and have many fond memories of when we were kids. Gary would tie up to my boat when we were fishing and never look for his own spot.   • I had the privilege of working closely with Gary when he was Assistant Deputy Minister of the Treasury Division in Manitoba Finance. He was exceedingly committed to the work he did and the Province he served. I also enjoyed visiting with Gary at Cherry Hill and sharing stories and laughs.
