LEONEL REY Suddenly, on Sunday, September 27, 2015, Léonel Rey of St. Claude, Manitoba passed away at the age of 71 years. Léonel was predeceased by his wife Simone (née Bruneau), his parents Léon and Rose (née Chappellaz), Simone's parents Félix and Blanche Bruneau (née Lambert), and his brother-in-law Henri Bruneau. He leaves to mourn his three children, Pauline (Patrick) Rivard, Gilles (Michelle) and Patrick (Erin); eight grandchildren, Céline, Miguel, Sylvie, Brody (Kristy), Breanne, Brett, Tyson and Misty; his siblings, Simone Dacquay (Normand), Norbert (Donna), Arthur (Lorie), Roland (Lorraine), René (Lorraine), Richard (Janet) and Mariette Campbell (Grant), numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Léonel also leaves to mourn Simone's family, Roger (Annette), Norbert (Marielle), Denis (Hélène), Roseline Green (Gary) and Georges; as well as Simone's aunts Irene Dacquay and Marie-Louise Bruneau. Léonel was born in Treherne, Manitoba, on August 9, 1944 and grew up in St. Claude, Manitoba, as the eldest of eight children. From a young age he worked hard on the farm and enjoyed country living. He married Simone Bruneau on July 2, 1966, and raised their family on their dairy farm. They were married for 44 years. In addition to the love for his family and the farm, horses, hunting and hockey held a special place in his heart. Léonel found joy in talking to people, especially teasing and making them laugh. Years of working hard as a farmer took their toll however, and he developed lung disease, from which he had been suffering for over a decade. He will definitely be remembered for his humorous nature and his gentle and generous heart. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, October 3, 2015. Eulogy and video beginning at 1:30 p.m. followed by funeral mass at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the St. Claude Parish Cemetery will follow. The family would like to thank Dr. Gray for his care during the last few years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Plains CancerCare Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8. Adam's Funeral Home of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba in care of arrangements. (204)248-2201 or 1-888-400-2326. www.afh.ca

  • These three young fellows came knocking on our door some years ago to get permission to hunt, well to make a very long story short we became very good friends meeting most of their families. Lionel was one of those fellows,a gentleman that was special. Our sympathy to his children and their families also to all his brothers and sisters and their family. - Posted by: John and Sonia Spaller (Friends from Lake Audy) on: Sep 30, 2015
