Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMABEL HUSELAK (nee CHECKOWSKY) May 10, 1924 - September 6, 2015 It is with love and sadness in our heart that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister at Concordia Hospital on September 6, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2007; sisters Mary, Nellie, Helen, Jean, and brothers Bill, Mike and John. She is lovingly remembered and cherished by her son Brian (Diane), daughters Jacquie and Lynda (Terry), grandchildren Jamie, Laura (Steve), Douglas (Katrina), and great-grandchildren Matthew and Carly Mae (born September 14, 2015). She had a special place in her heart for her great-grandson, Matthew, and was looking forward to the birth of her great-granddaughter. Also missing her is her sister Elsie (Walter), and many treasured nieces (great, great) and nephews (great, great) who came from all regions of the country. Mom was born in Rossburn, Manitoba and moved to Vernon, British Columbia when she was 19 years old. In Vernon she lived with her sister, Nellie, and met our dad and married him while he was stationed there during the Second World War. Living in Selkirk she loved to socialize with her neighbours and friends in the birthday club' and coffee club. She was a meticulous homemaker, a skilled cook and perogy master who enjoyed cooking for her family and her many nieces and nephews during holiday visits. Mom was a very kind, friendly and generous person who got great satisfaction in giving to others. She had a warm heart and a smile that would light up the room. We love you. We miss you. Special thanks to Dr. Karen Braun. A service of remembrance will take place at Little Britain United Church, 5879 Highway #9, Lockport, Manitoba on October 22 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Shelly Manley-Tannis officiating. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Remembering many happy times at your Mom and Dad’s place in Selkirk. Also fond memories of skipping class to help Mabel with the perogy making – such fun(and I still prefer heated sour cream). Sending love and condolences, Becky - Posted by: Rebecca Armstong (Becky Ryan) (Friend of Lynda's ) on: Oct 23, 2015
