She will be missed by her children Harry (Cathy), Jock (Elaine), Lori (Gerald) and daughter in-law Christine. "Granny" will also be missed by grandchildren Melanie (Dan) Bailey, Karen (Chris) Jansen, Russel (Erin) McKay, Ashli (Paul) Hodgert, Pauline (Quinn) McKone, Jonathan (Sara) McKay, Carol Reimer, Leah (Zac) Waddington, Erin (Dimitri) Chantziantoniou and Julia Reimer; great-grandchildren Eliana Bailey, Alyssa, Malachi and Eden Jansen, William McKay, Lewis Hodgert, Neila and Marek McKone, and Sophia and Zoe Chantziantoniou. She is also survived by sisters Marjorie (Raymond) Clayton and Isabel (Ken) Meiklejohn. She was predeceased by her husband Russel and eldest son Robert (Bob). Peggy was raised on the Cook farm south of Dugald. She especially enjoyed playing third base on the Dugald ladies softball team and going to neighborhood dances. After high school Mom was employed at Winnipeg Electric and as a telephone operator for a time before she met and married Russel McKay in 1948. They settled on the farm in Meadowvale where they farmed together and raised their family. Peggy enjoyed curling and was active in the Springfield Agriculture Society. In their later years she and Russel took up golfing together which they enjoyed during their retirement. Mom was an active member at Anola Baptist Church since its inception and lived her Christian faith each day. Family was always a priority with Mom and she was especially fond of her grand and great-grandbabies. They always brought a smile and a coo from Granny. We will miss Mom's dry wit and sense of humor, her quiet wisdom and her care for us. A celebration of Peggy's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 24, 2015 at Oakbank Baptist Church with Pastor Wally Frank officiating. It will be followed by a reception at the Church. A private interment of her ashes will follow at Millbrook Cemetery. www.seasonsfunerals.ca
