DOROTHY JUNE DUNSMORE
Born: Apr 21, 1925
Date of Passing: Oct 23, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY JUNE DUNSMORE (nee BRUCE) April 21, 1925 - October 23, 2015 On Friday, October 23, 2015, we said goodbye to one of the kindest and gentlest of souls. Traditionally, an obituary notice would contain a list of a person's earthly accomplishments, but it seems more appropriate instead to describe her life in terms of the kind of person she was. By example, she taught us the value of love and forgiveness, and to not judge others too harshly. At her side, we also learned the value of joy and laughter, and how to be brave in the face of sadness and adversity. Although she never lived a life of physical luxury, she never complained and was never seen to be envious of others, always making the best of whatever situation life had to offer. Her favourite expression was "It'll get better", and surprisingly, it almost always did. Mom spent her last five years at Bethania Personal Care Home, where the wonderful staff made sure she was surrounded by love and care, and treated with dignity. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Trevor, her daughter Iris Nichol, her dear friend and partner Ted St. Germain, and her brothers Leonard and George Bruce. She is survived by her sister Emily Morrissette, her daughters Lorraine (Bob Finsten) and Karen (Pat Berrel), her sons Lyle (Ann) and Randy (Barb), 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She'll be truly missed. But think of her as living, In the hearts of those she touched. For nothing loved is ever lost, And she was loved so much. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish could make a donation in her memory to a favourite charity or to Bethania Mennonite Memorial Foundation at 1045 Concordia Avenue, R2K 3S7.
