  • A man once said, Humanity has unquestionably one really effective weapon, Laughter. Power, money, persuasion, supplication, persecution. These can lift at a colossal humbug push it a little weaken it a little, century by century, But only Laughter can blow it to rags and atoms at a blast. Against the assault of Laughter nothing can stand. Mark Twain In remembrance of a man who had the uncanny ability to evoke Laughter, endow his fellow man with numerous smiles, and bring forth immense joy to a night of humble gatherings. To you Jim Slipec! May you be remembered for the spark of Laughter you brought into this world. May you rest in peace. Our condolences go out to Vera, Jason and Cory and the rest of their family. • I met Jim as his cousin John Norget, put our curling team together a few years ago at the Pembina Curling Club. We had fun and were quite the crew. Jim was lead and every now and then hog a rock or just about hog a rock. After a few of these I said to Jim , look I know you want us to sweep but this is a bit much. Or OK we are sweeping. He would laugh that Jim laugh and give you a smile. Chester and I would look at Jim and then the 3 of us would look at John as he would ask what happened. We d all laugh and tell Jim to throw the rock harder. When he'd throw it through Chester and I would thank him and laugh. We'd say a John relax. let's go have a beer. Jim was fun, loveable, witty, caring for his sons and proud of his sons and family. They would curl with us once in a while and we had fun. When I had my stroke he reached out to me. A great man, friend, father and husband . Rest in peace my friend. You are out of pain. God Bless you and your family. You made a difference to everyone you met. Thank you for being my friend. - Posted by: Greg Braun (Curling team mate and friend) on: Nov 08, 2015
