Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHANS HEINRICH BARTEN October 22, 1920 - November 6, 2015 Peacefully with family by his side, Hans Heinrich Barten passed away on November 6, 2015 at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of ninety five years. Hans was born on October 22, 1920 in Rostock, Germany. He was a loving and devoted husband and leaves behind his beloved wife Irma Barten; his children, Gordon, Monika (Arthur Huminuk) and Sylvia (Darryl McFee). He is grandfather to Daniel Ginther, Karrie Ginther (Shawn Hirschfeld), Jacob, Abigail and Rebecca McFee and Ardice and Brittany Huminuk. Great-grandchildren are Emily, Sierra and Makenna Ginther and Brooklyn and Katelyn Huminuk. Hans immigrated to Canada with his new family in 1964. The family resided in Winnipeg for the first few years, then moved to Bissett, Manitoba for a job in the mine. They moved to Balmertown, ON in 1968 and resided there until retirement from Dickenson Gold Mines in 1985. Irma and Hans then moved to Winnipeg. Hans was a devoted family man who enjoyed life outdoors. He is remembered for his love of canoeing, backpacking and nature. Special thanks to the nursing care and doctors at Concordia Hospital. A funeral service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (401 Kildare Ave. West, Winnipeg) on Saturday November 14 at 11:00 a.m. A light lunch will be served following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LWML League of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or the Siloam Mission in Winnipeg.
