FRANCES LYNNE SUTHERLAND It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Frances Lynne Sutherland (nee Johnson), on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 after a battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband Glen, and brother-in-law Allen. Left to mourn her passing are her sons Ross (Kelley) and Scott (Sarah Friend); her grandchildren Dylan, Maddie, and Logan; her sisters Lesli Dorset (Bob Atamanchuk) and Kelly Jacques (Andre); sister-in-law Linda Sutherland and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lynne was born May 10, 1943 in Winnipeg to Frank and Jean Johnson. She married Glen in 1963 and in 1972 moved to Charleswood where they raised their family. A large part of her time working was spent in the education system as a school secretary, and later, an administrator at the school division. She took full advantage of her retirement in 2001, traveling all over the world with family and friends. She spent many of her last winters in Yuma, Arizona, which she enjoyed very much. Lynne loved to spend time with her family and was an excellent babysitter for her grandchildren. She was an artist, and loved to paint and draw, leaving behind many pictures for her family to enjoy. The family would like to thank the Cancer Care Oncology team, Palliative Care team, all of the nurses, aides, and doctors on the 5th floor of the Women's Hospital. As per Lynne's wishes, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cancer foundation. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Lynne was an amazing woman. I admired her strength of character, and her love of life. I will miss her wonderful laugh, and her sense of humour. We didn't read the same type of books or always agree on the books we read, but we were both readers. My sincere condolences to her family. She left much too soon, but will be fondly remembered. - Posted by: Patricia Fay (Book Club friend and avid reader) on: Nov 18, 2015

  • Dear Ross and Scott and families, You will probably not remember us, but I was your Dad's cousin. Bob grew up in Cypress River and was a friend to both Allen and Glen. We met your Mom on several occasions but lost contact after your Dad's death. She was a fun loving woman that we were privileged to know. We just wanted to say how sorry we felt to her of her death and indeed her many years of ill health. We had lunch with your Aunt Linda today (also after many years of no connection)and were glad to share time and stories with her. Peace be with you as you adjust to this new reality. • Lesli, Kelly and family, It is with great sadness that we learned of Lynn's passing. Life can be so unfair. She was a great lady. Her wit and humour will be missed by all. Our thoughts are with you at this very difficult time. - Posted by: Judy & Gary Hedge (Friend) on: Nov 15, 2015

  • Lynne & I had many giggles over the years we worked side by side at Royal & Van Walleghem Schools. My thoughts go out to all her family; she won't be forgotten. - Posted by: Linda Jeffrey (Friend) on: Nov 14, 2015

  • Lynne was a true and great friend. Most especially in the last years with our Book Club. Lynne's sense of humor and forthrightness was what endeared her to our club. She will be sadly missed and - Lynne - we will read a Stephen King book just for you. Ross, Kelly, Scott, Sarah (and families), Lesli and Kelly - my heart and prayers go to you all. We have lost and wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. Lovingly remembered always - Posted by: Marilyn Davis (friend) on: Nov 14, 2015
