Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNELSON RICHARD MITCHELL 1939 - 2015 Peacefully with his family at his side Nelson passed away at home on November 7, 2015. Predeceased by his parents Uhetta and Abner Mitchell and his brother-in-law Roger Elliott. He is survived by his loving wife Linda (nee) Elliott of 52 years and his two wonderful sons Nelson Jr. (Garner) and Mark and lifelong friend of over 60 years Bob Renwick of New Holland, Ont.; his sister Shirley, and he was adored by his nieces Shelley and Sherry, nephew Larry (Kep) Ketchem; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marshall and Bonnie Elliott of Peterborough, Ont. plus several nieces and nephews. Nelson was born in Cornwall, Ont. moved to Hamilton in the early 1950's and graduated from Delta Secondary school. He began his business career with Moore Business Forms, NCR and Monarch Marking Systems which brought him to Winnipeg in 1969 as Western Canadian Sales Manager. Wanting to spend more time with his two sons he established Dakell Distributors/Astro-Vac Vacu-Maid central vacuum systems in 1974. The boys were involved as soon as they could carry a tool box. Under dad's leadership and hands on experience the company grew from residential sales and installations to commercial, industrial and custom applications excelling in the aerospace industry under Dakell Industries leaving his sons to continue building the company he founded. Nelson was a member of many service clubs and volunteered selflessly and with pride for his sons throughout their school years, extracurricular activities and sports teams. He had a love for reading, spending time with his friends and family, enjoying nature, gardening and the arts which are reflected in our home and garden. Special thanks to our friends and family for their prayers and support, also the palliative care nurses, home care staff and Dr. Silhova who helped make this journey bearable. Cremation has taken place as per his wishes. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice. There will be a celebration of life spring 2016 at the family home.
