Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDEIRDRE NANCOO December 10, 1943 - November 13, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Deirdre Nancoo on Friday, November 13, 2015. She is survived by her mother Radica; her siblings Kris (Tara), Seeta (Sarran), Luxie (Nazie), Vashti (Danny), Vena, Val, Davy, Sharda, Shiva, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada and in Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies. She was predeceased by her father Lochan. Deirdre was the eldest of 10 siblings. She was the first member of her family to immigrate to Canada in 1965 first to Saskatchewan and then moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a result of her sponsorship and continued encouragement and support, many of her siblings followed to be educated and raise their families in Canada. After arriving in Winnipeg, Deirdre studiously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and later her Masters in ED from the University of Manitoba. Her compassionate demeanor and love of education led to a career as a dedicated and respected school teacher. Deirdre taught in the Transcona Springfield School Division for many years until her retirement. A voracious reader and a self-taught artist, Deirdre's quiet intellect and impeccable eye for detail were reflected in her impressive book collection and beautifully maintained home. She especially prided herself on her garden, transforming her backyard into a landscaped retreat that often served as a backdrop for the gourmet meals she loved to prepare for neighbours and family. Deirdre was a beloved sister and a cherished aunt, always with a helping hand or a kind word to share. She will be dearly missed. A private family service will be held at a later date. My condolences to the family and friends of ms Nancoo. She was my third grade teacher at Herald Hatcher elementary school. If my memory serves me correctly she retired that year. She was a great teacher with a wonderful demeanour and good morals. May she rest in peace . - Posted by: Terri (Student) on: Nov 24, 2015

I met Deirdre quite by chance when she wanted some new windows in her home. We became friends quickly, she was easy to like. I know that she will be deeply missed by her family who I had the privilege of meeting during our friendship. A fantastic lady, I will miss her. My deepest sympathy to the family. - Posted by: Betty Braun (Friend) on: Nov 18, 2015
