ELBERTJE (ELLIE) VAN BEEK (nee SLAA) On the morning of November 20, 2015, the Lord called our wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother home to be with Him. She was loved, and will be greatly missed by her husband of 63 years, Henk; her children and their spouses, Erna and John Moedt, Bill and Brenda van Beek, Ellen and Dave Shpak, Tina and Ed Harke, 18 grandchildren and their spouses, and 24 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Evert Slaa, and is survived by her other siblings, Jellie Vosslamber, Henk (Fenny) Slaa, and Carla (Andy) Piepers. Ellie was born in the Netherlands on July 17, 1927. In 1965, together with Henk and their four children, they moved to Canada to begin a new chapter in their lives. She dedicated her life to her Lord, her husband, her children, and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved each one dearly. The last four years of her life she was a resident of Bethania Personal Care Home, although her husband spent each and every day with her. Thanks to all those who cared for her during this time and especially for the care and concern shown to the family as she was dying. If friends so desire, they can visit the family on Wednesday, November 25 (7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) at Bethania Haus, 1060 Kimberly Ave. (main floor). Funeral will be held on Thursday, November 26 at 10:00 a.m., Redeemer Canadian Reformed Church, 15 Bates Avenue, Rev. J. Poppe officiating. (Please note, this is a scent-free building). Flowers gratefully declined. Funeral Arrangements in Care of: Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street - 204-224-1525 Please sign the book of memories at www.wheelerfuneral.com
