EVELYN MARGARET STODDART 1926 - 2015 Peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2015, Evelyn passed away, at Grace Hospital, at the age of 89 years. Evelyn will be lovingly remembered by her brother Bill, his wife Janet, her nieces Liz Baines (Bill), Susan and Mary, her nephew John (Angela), great-nieces Melissa and Stephanie Baines, and great-nephews Jason Baines, Benjamin and Eric Stoddart. Evelyn was born on October 2, 1926 to parents John and Ethel Stoddart in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up on Garfield Street and worked for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp (CMHC) for 27 years. After retiring in 1983, Evelyn enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Evelyn was a lifelong and very active member of Greenwood and McClure United Churches. She enjoyed spending time mentoring young women and was involved as a leader in Explorers taking the girls on outings in and around Winnipeg and at camps in Gimli. UCW was another place where Evelyn was actively involved with the United Church, acting as president of their group for two years. After retirement, Evelyn was able to be involved in UCW conferences across the country where she made many friends and worked on numerous committees. For a time Evelyn belonged to three groups of bell ringers. She enjoyed the weekly practices and traveling around the city of Winnipeg performing concerts with the groups. After her retirement, Evelyn enjoyed trips across Canada and the USA, and a Caribbean Cruise. Evelyn also enjoyed her visits to Burlington, Ontario to visit her brother Bill and his family at Christmas each year, until her health made it too difficult for her to travel. Evelyn lived at Portsmouth Retirement Residence for 14 years before moving to Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home in 2014 where she enjoyed the many activities that were offered to the residents. In keeping with Evelyn's wishes, cremation has already taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at McClure United Church, 533 Greenwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB.
