ROBERT WILLIAM COX Peacefully on December 1, 2015 with his family by his side, Rob Cox passed away. Rob will be deeply missed but forever loved by his wife Carolyn; mother Lovina Green; children, Robbie (Kristin), Carla (Adam); grandchildren, Kaitlin, Alyssa, Carter and Ellie; brother, Doug (Cathy); brothersin-law, Paul (Laurie), Ron, Charlie (Jan) and numerous nieces and nephews. Rob was predeceased by his wife Mary; father Robert; brother Dennis and sister-in-law Melinda; sister Barbara and brother-in-law Glenn. Rob was born at the Selkirk General Hospital on September 13, 1955. He grew up in Selkirk and continued to live in the area all his life. After school he began his career at Manitoba Hydro and he worked his way up the ladder to the Manager of Energy Service Sales where he retired in 2011 after 37 and a half years. Rob was an organizer of many events, including many provincial curling events. He was the Selkirk chair for the 1999 World Junior hockey, chair of the 99 Years of Class, co-chair of the 2003 Western Canada Summer Games, and chair of the 2009 Telus Cup. He remained active in the community up until his passing by sitting on boards for the Gaynor Family Library, Kiwanis on the Red and Manitoba Good Roads. He was recognized for many accomplishments such as the Selkirk and District Citizen of the Year in 2002 and the Lieutenant Governor's Award in 2012. He also achieved lifetime membership from the Manitoba Curling Association and Manitoba Good Roads. Rob was also very supportive of Robbie and Carla's many activities and sports. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the medical staff for their loving care for Rob. Flowers are gratefully declined; in keeping with Rob's community minded spirit donations in Rob's memory may be made to the Selkirk & District Foundation, 200 Eaton Ave, Selkirk, MB, R1A 0W6. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5, at 2:00 p.m. in the Selkirk United Church, 202 McLean Ave., with Rev. Deborah Vitt officiating. Reception to follow at the Selkirk Rec Center.
