GARRY MICHAEL GOWRYLUK 1951 - 2015 Peacefully on November 30, 2015, with loved ones near, Garry passed away at Health Sciences Centre. He leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Ruth; sons, Andrew (Josee), Matthew (Brynn), Jordan (Kelly) and daughter Tara; four grandchildren, Kaden, Ally, Emily and Landon. He is survived by his brother Greg (Sharon); brother-in-law John Lupus (Cherie); sister-in-law Lynda and many nieces and nephews. Garry was predeceased by his mother Kathleen, father Michael and brother Ron. Born in Selkirk, Manitoba on September 29, 1951, Garry grew up in the Lockport area and moved to Holland, Manitoba in the mid-sixties when the family relocated their potato farm. A strong, compassionate man with the most loving smile, Garry always put the needs of others before himself. His kind hearted nature and love for life allowed him to have a conversation with anyone and give them his undivided attention. Although he had many interests, Garry was passionate about his family, had a great love for potato farming with his dad, brothers and sons, was an avid traveler of the world and had a never-ending thirst for knowledge. Garry was a member of the Winnipeg Bible Students and loved his brethren, serving the Lord and living a consecrated life. In 1994, Garry was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, which progressed to a stage where he required a stem cell transplant in December of 2012. After many years of a good fight, he ultimately succumbed to complications related to his disease. We are eternally grateful to his stem cell donor who gave him a few more precious years with his family. We want to thank Dr. Seftel, Dr. Paulson, Dr. Johnstone and the many assistants and nurses who were involved in his care. If desired, donations can be made to the HSC Foundation - Charitable Registration #11895 5012 RR0001 - simply state to GD6 Hope Project. Because of Garry's love of spring and all things new, a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel rear hall entrance. An announcement will be placed in the Free Press in March. Remembered as a man with a wonderful sense of humor and positive attitude in the face of adversity, Garry will be missed by many. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

  • Garry was a wonderful man. I'm thankful to have known him and thankful that my son shares much of Garry's gentle nature. I also praise the Lord for his promise of a resurrection. "Til we meet again", Garry. Xoxoxo - Posted by: Kelly Gowryluk (Daughter-in-law ) on: Dec 05, 2015
