ISABELLA CHAMBERLAIN
Date of Passing: Dec 11, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISABELLA CHAMBERLAIN The children of Isabella Chamberlain sadly announce her passing on December 11, 2015, at the Red River Personal Care Home in Selkirk, MB, at the age of 91, after a valiant battle with Parkinson's Disease. Mom was predeceased by her husband Edmund (Ted) in 1991; son Richard Alan in 2013; parents William (1953) and Mary (1975) Dalgarno; brothers, William and Russell in infancy and sister Marie Yuzark in 2015. Isabella's memory will be cherished by her children Bonny Buchberger (Bucky), Robert Chamberlain (Judy), Ken Chamberlain and daughter-in-law Marcelle Chamberlain and her family; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law John Chamberlain (Dorothy); sisters-in-law Mable Gawne, Lucy Van Mol and Louise Chamberlain as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Isabella was born in Winnipeg and lived on Royal Avenue before moving to St. Andrews with her family. After marrying Ted in 1945, they moved to Rossdale where they built their home, lived and raised their family until 1989 when they moved to Selkirk. After high school graduation Mom went to work in Winnipeg at the Nutty Club Factory and then at Fairfields. She was a stay at home mom for many years and worked as an enumerator during elections before returning to the work force first as an interpreter in the Big House at Lower Fort Garry and then in the office. As a stay at home mom, she took great pride in raising her children, looking after her home, tending her garden and preserving fruits and vegetables. She enjoyed berry picking and also raised chickens and pigs - so the freezer and pantry were always full. When Mom retired from the work force, she took up bowling and golfing and took part in tournaments where she met many interesting people. Mom was an active member of the Little Britain United Church. She sang in the choir and sat on a variety of committees. She assisted in organization of the annual Church Turkey Supper and Spring Tea held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tallin. She enjoyed square dancing to the calling of Alex Prettie, and helped organize whist and crib tournaments. Mom enjoyed many activities, a good game of crib, whist, scrabble or canasta. She loved to sew, knit, crochet and do cross stitch to pass the time in the winter and many have benefitted from her handy work. She started every day by doing the crossword puzzle, sudoku and cryptoquote from the Winnipeg Free Press. She enjoyed camping, Sunday drives and family picnics at Winnipeg Beach and West Kildonan Park. Family and good food were an important part of Mom's life and she enjoyed cooking and having family over for a meal followed by a game, be it card or board. Mom would be the first to say that she had a full and interesting life. Special thanks to those who went to visit her while she was in the Home. Your visit was the highlight of her day. Her only regret was that she wasn't able to offer you a cup of tea and something to eat. Thanks also to the doctors and staff at Red River Personal Care Home for the care and compassion shown to Mom during her stay. Her presence will be missed, but her legacy will live through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In keeping with Isabella's wishes, cremation and a private interment has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Little Britain United Church, on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Shelly Manley-Tannis officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Those we love never go away, They walk beside us every day. With tender love and deep regret, We who love you will never forget. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

I'm sad to hear of Aunty Isabels passing. She was an amazing mother, Aunty and friend to all. Aunty was always there willing to help others in what ever way she could. I always love listening to the story's she told about growing up in St. Andrews, playing a game of golf, meeting to watch the Selkirk parade or just hanging around the farm. She was one of the good ones and will be truly missed. Sleep well Aunty. - Posted by: Rob Yuzark (Nephew) on: Dec 12, 2015
