LOUIS MARIE CONAN It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather in the early hours of December 19, 2015 at the age of 97 years. Louis was born in France on November 13, 1918. He was the eldest twin born to Angelique and Louis Conan. He moved to Canada with his parents as a young child and settled in the Fisher Branch area. Louis leaves to mourn his children Etienne (Bev Kevin), Joseph (Judy Conn), Louis (Gayle Restall), Louise Kork (Fred), Lionel (Loree), Andre (Eileen), Henry (Sandy), Francois (Margaret), Daniel (Kristine); grandchildren Teresa, Brenda, Russell, Kevin, David, Megan, Bruce, Danielle, Leslie, Trevor, Michelle and Nicole; and great-grandchildren Cole, Ty Ryan, Alana and Paige. Louis was predeceased by his parents, stepmother Pauline, his twin sister Georgette Bernier, and his other sisters Angelique Bale and Adrienne Caners, also a grandson Stephen. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marie in 2013, she was 94 at that time. They celebrated 67 years of marriage and he missed her every day. Louis farmed most of his life and was always willing to lend a hand to help a neighbour. He was very active well into his 90s, mowing the lawn, planting a garden and working at his crafts. He lived on his own, in his own house until recently. He enjoyed his weekly visits to the Fisher Branch Chalet. He was always grateful for visits from his neighbours, nieces and nephews, children and grandchildren who frequently dropped by to visit and play cards. The family would like to thank the wonderful people at the Fisher Branch Care Home, and the Percy E. Moore hospital staff who extended such kindness to him. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch, MB with Father Marcelino officiating. Should you so desire donations can be made to the Fisher Personal Care Home Foundation Inc., Box 548, Fisher Branch, MB R0C 0Z0. FISHER FUNERAL HOME INC. In care of arrangements. Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • To all of the Conan siblings and their families, Pat and I extend our deepest sympathies on the loss of your father. May he rest in peace. Mr. and Mrs. Conan were the two most gentlest souls on this earth. I still have fond memories of a very early sleep-over probably sometime in the early 1960s and taking the controls of a tiny caterpillar on his farm. What fun! - Posted by: Lionel & Patricia Bernier (Old family friends) on: Dec 23, 2015

  • He will always be remembered as a kind man & raised a beautiful family. Our deepest sympathies to the Conan family for your loss. He is with your Mother now & he did live a very full long life. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: David & Lea Menard (Friend) on: Dec 23, 2015

  • I was very blessed to have had two lovely godparents in Louis and Marie Conan, good friends to Mom and Dad. I enjoyed visiting them when I travelled to Fisher Branch, especially in the last 15 years or so. They were both kind and generous people who enjoyed the most important things in life -- God and family. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. - Posted by: Suzanne Moore (God daughter) on: Dec 22, 2015

  • Our deepest sympathy to Uncle Etienne & the entire Conan Family. May we all be blessed with such stories that can be shared from a long, healthy, happy life as lived by your father, grandfather & great-grandfather. I'm sure he is raising a ruckus with Marie & the Lord, all while showing the good Lord how to efficiently cut, split and pile wood! Our thoughts and prayers! - Posted by: Cliff, Kathryn, Tavia & Ethan Caners (family friends) on: Dec 22, 2015
