JAYASHANKER CHANDRAN It is with deep sadness and grief that we announce the passing of Jayashanker "Jay" Chandran. His legacy continues to live on through his wife, son, daughter-in-law (Geetika Chandran) and granddaughter (Avani Chandran). Born February 1, 1936, Jay spent his childhood growing up in India and then moved to Salzburg, Austria after he married his wife Rema Chandran and where he had his son Rendhir Chandran. He then moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1976 where he spent the rest of his life. He took immense amount of joy and pride giving selflessly to society, including his endless devotion to the Sai Centre and Hindu Society. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jay's memory to St. Boniface Hospital at www.saintboniface.ca/foundation/en/donate. On behalf of all the Malayalis of Manitoba, my deepest sympathy and condolences to Candini, Rendeer and the family. Chandran's contributions to the Malayali community especially his help and participation in conducting the various events at the Hindu Temple facility is greatly appreciated.
