She will be missed by her four sons Laverne (Pat), Stuart (Jane), Garth, Craig (Cheryl), 16 grandchildren Rob (Sandy), Brent (Rachel), Lorna Wilson (Paul), Andrew, Jon (Amanda), Ange Cormier (Darren), Peter (Kristina), Betsy Thomas (Burke), David (Meghan), Kevin, Tim Hobbs Manness (Kendra), Lisa, Dean, Katie Klassen (Mike), Jenny Flaman (Jon), Vicki, and 23 great-grandchildren Kayla, Lauren, Joshua, Caleb Manness, Jess, Ali, Nick, Sam Manness, Hannah Wilson, Ashley, Taylor Manness, Tyler, Luc, Mary Jane, William Cormier, Madison Manness, Payton, Brynn, Harper Manness, Hope, KJ Manness, Jude Hobbs Manness, and Emma Klassen. Sid and Helen Manness, Shirley Cole, and lifelong friend Emma Enns will also miss her. She was born April 12, 1920 in Winnipeg to Alice May and Charles Haverstick. One of four children and always the responsible elder sister to Chas (Jean 1990), Audrey Marsh (Mike 2013) and Malcolm (Sylvia). They grew up in the Domain community, the community where Mom would live for 90 years. In 1942 Grandpa married Grandma Edith who became one of Mom's confidantes and friends. In 1941 she married Don Manness and moved from town to the farm. Here, they would raise five children, creating many happy times and fond memories working alongside each other. Her family was a priority in her life and her love encompassed spouses and each new child as they came along. She embraced all aspects of country life with energy, passion and an unbelievable work ethic. The door to her home was always open, aromas from her kitchen were mouthwatering and others were often entertained at her table. Mom's generosity spilled over into the community. She was a life member of Domain WI and a member of Avonlea United Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. When a need arose, she was there to volunteer at the local school. Her weekly Woman's Bible Study gave her friendship, strength and purpose. In 1962 and 2000 she helped compile Domain's History Books. In 2006, she received a RM of Macdonald Service Award for volunteer work in her community. She received recognition for canvassing for Red Cross and the Cancer Society, something she began in her teenage years. Retirement was for others but she did learn to enjoy traveling with family, friends and the Golden Echoes choir. Mom's unwavering faith was evident in every aspect of her life. It carried her through many life challenges and was a profound example for us all. We love you Mom and there was never any question that you loved us. Thank you to the staff at the Rosewood and C4 at Riverview for the daily care and encouragement you gave Mom. "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31. A Celebration of Mom's life will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Red Cross, Riverview Health Centre Foundation or a charity of your choice.
