Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR LOUISE MCCAIG (ELLIE) (nee BYE) February 18, 1924 - December 31, 2015 It is with great sadness that the family of Eleanor McCaig announces her passing, peacefully with her family by her side on December 31, 2015 at the age of 91. Left to cherish her memory are her children Valerie (Bobby), Karen (Mike), Sherry (Brian), Randy (Dolly) and granddaughter Charlene (Terry). Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Cecil in 2005, brothers Robert and Andrew Bye, sister Marjorie Paczay and granddaughter Stacy. Ellie grew up and went to school in Resource, Saskatchewan. She moved to Winnipeg and had a job candling eggs at crescent Creamery on Sherburn Street where she met her future husband Cecil and they married on June 30, 1951. Mom was also employed with Moores Business Forms until her retirement in 1987. Eleanor devoted her life to family and loved spoiling her grandkids. She was a hardworking, kind, generous, caring woman. Mom loved cooking and baking and was known for her lemon meringue pie and butter tarts. Berry picking, bingo, reading walking, watching sports, and figure skating were also her favourite pastimes. Ellie had a keen sense of humour and was always coming up with witty remarks. The Terry Fox Runs and MS Walks were fun for mom even though she was one of the last to finish. Mom and Dad enjoyed their travels in the motorhome throughout Canada and the U.S. Our family express sincere thanks to Calvary Place Personal Care Home Staff and her companion Brenda for their care and compassion. At mom's request a private family service was held.
