HELGA HERTA LOECHNER (nee KNOEDLER) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Helga Herta Loechner, 79 years of age, on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Left to cherish her memory is her son Fred (Shannon) and their son Jordan; her son Marc (Lisa), their daughter Connor and their son Braeden; her daughter Carol (Troy) and their daughters Anakin and Bethany. Helga was predeceased by her husband Albert in 2007, and her daughter Caren in 1995. Helga was born in Stuttgart, Germany on May 16, 1936. In Germany she trained in office administration and bookkeeping. She then immigrated to Winnipeg in 1959 to be with her fiancé Albert and they were married June 21, 1959. With the arrival of their son Fred in 1961, Helga and Albert bought the home that she lived in for the next 55 years. In the 1970s, she spent a lot of time volunteering at Clifton Community Club and Clifton School. This motivated her to run for School Trustee in the early 1970s. Helga was president of the Winnipeg Speed Skating Club for many years from the mid 1970s to mid 1980s. After Albert's passing, Helga's companion and best friend was their dog Scanter. They could be seen walking the neighbourhood, up to a month and half before Helga's passing. Thank you to paramedics Dustin and Corinne on 3 shift, the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Emergency and 5E for their care and compassion. A special thanks to Dr. S. Sharma and Dr. D. Duerksen.
