ROBERT ANDERSON Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of Bob, who left us peacefully in the arms of family on Friday, January 8, 2016 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his first wife Eileen (nee Olson), daughter Lynn Paulhus, and mother Mary Smith. He is survived by Maria (nee Lannoo), his loving wife of 29 years. Also by his daughter Deanne Irwin (Tom), son Gary Anderson (Lisa), and son-in-law Brett Paulhus, grandchildren David, Robert and Jordan Heavysege; his twin sister Shirley Walker, brother Robert Smith, his special niece Christy, and many relatives and friends. Bob was born in Winnipeg on May 27, 1932. His youth was spent on the farm in Fannystelle where many lifelong friendships were made. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was especially proud of his three grandsons. Bob worked at Winnipeg Transit for 35 years until his retirement as chief inspector in 1993. He was an avid reader, and loved cooking and creating' his much-loved barbecued roasts. He was an excellent gardener and found great pleasure with his lily collection. Bob always had a smile on his face, especially when on his riding mower, his yard racecar! He boasted of his great fishing prowess, especially with his fishing buddies on their annual fly-in fishing trip. Bob was the big one that got away'! A very special time in his life was in 1989 when he was reunited with his birth mother, twin sister and a brother. Bob enjoyed many friends and relatives who made his life interesting and so much fun -- and you know who you are -- including co-workers, fishermen, football fans, card players in Palm Springs, Dakota shufflers and floor curlers. Our lives will never be the same, as we have lost a husband, father, grandfather and friend who kept us laughing with his quick wit and sense of humour. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy's Roman Catholic Church, 135 John Forsyth Road. We extend our sincere appreciation for all the excellent, compassionate W.R.H.A. home care during Bob's last week. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, St. Timothy's Roman Catholic Church, or charity of your choice. Maria & family: Bob certainly was all that has been mentioned above. As a co-worker at Transit, I personally appreciated Bob's dedication to the organizational goals in providing a first class public transportation system. God Bless - Rest in Peace Bob. The Anderson's, Bob and Maria, have been beloved friends offering me their company, warm home (who knew one person, me, could be fired from some many jobs), Bob's wonderfully delicious dinners and afternoon coffee with chocolate in their kitchen. These memories, and the warmth of their hospitality, live in my heart and continue in my friendship with Bob's dearest, Maria. - Posted by: Diane O'Neil (Friend of this very dear couple, and my dearest friend, Bob's beloved, Maria) on: Jan 12, 2016

Bob was my mentor, adviser and a good friend when we worked together at Transit. Through our Control Centre years through his coaching and guidance, I was finally able to follow mentor as the Chief Inspector at Transit where I daily tried to live up to his example and expectation. I will always treasure our time together, our talks and his outlook on life. Rest well boss, until we meet again. - Posted by: Dan Kirk (Student of The Man) on: Jan 12, 2016

I don't even know where to start with all of the good memories and stories I could share about Uncle Bob, I only think of good things when I remember him (even the memory of him "beating up" my beloved stuffed animals when I was little, it could've been traumatic to a three year old but he got away with it and made it funny!). He was the most generous, kind, light-hearted and humorous man and we are immensely fortunate that he was part of our family - Auntie Maria, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and my heart goes out to you as well as the lovely family and friends he left behind. He was very special to me and I will miss him very much. Hug, hug, hug. - Posted by: Christy Remington (Niece) on: Jan 12, 2016

Uncle Bob was Dad's(Firnie)best friend and workmate so I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time around Bob when I was a kid. To me Bob was a larger than life character who lit up any room he entered. Not only was he "movie star" handsome, but he was the absolute funniest guy that I have ever met. I am having flashbacks of watching Bob make my Dad laugh until he had tears and aching ribs. I remember how fast he would always come up with a zinger and he would enjoy it as much as the rest of us...I can still hear that crazy laugh of his. Uncle Bob was always a great advocate to have around to diffuse awkward situations during those early teenage years when you got caught doing something really stupid. Bob saved my bacon on multiple occasions with a perfectly timed joke...which is why I also remember him as a compassionate guy with an open mind...although he always managed to get the last word in, and he'd skewer you with a little jab to get the message across and learn your lesson. Which I appreciated. Behind that mischievous twinkle in his eyes shone a keen intellect which was as curious as it was confident. What a guy? My heart goes out to Maria, Deanne, Gary, Brett and family. Bob was a very special man who had a profound impact on my life. - Posted by: Donn Coppens (Nephew) on: Jan 12, 2016

My brothers'Gill and Doug and I always referred to Bob as "Uncle Bob" growing up. He came over every Wednesday night and watch the hockey game with my Dad. His first wife Eileen was my mom's first cousin and she would usually tag along to watch the game and coffee with my mom. He was so dam funny:) he would always tell us the latest and greatest of what was going on in the world. Maybe he thought we never had a newspaper?? Nonetheless he had this wonderful marriage that ended in tragedy when Eileen succumbed to a malignant brain tumor and passed away. Bob remained resilient and then he met Maria and there was that love story all over again. My brother's and I are saddened by this event as we all know we just lost Lynn... Together, their stars will forever brighten our skies at night time and guide us home. With so much love to Gary and Deanne we are here for you whenever you needs.. Most sincerely, Gill Doug and Janet Hatton. - Posted by: Janet Hatton (relative) on: Jan 12, 2016

Well the world is certainly a sadder place with the passing of our Uncle Bob. What a generous, caring, and thoughtful person we have lost. I have so many fond memories from our many visits to Uncle Bob and Aunt Maria's house. We always left there happy. (And with full stomachs) Uncle Bob's sense of humour is second to none. And we can all take a page from his book on how to treat people. We will always remember you fondly Uncle. - Posted by: David Hebert (Nephew) on: Jan 12, 2016

Bob Anderson and my aunt Maria would invite me to dinner so often in the last few years, I was almost a fixture at their dinner table. As I struggled to get established in Winnipeg, Uncle Bob was always there to feed me and even to get a roof over my head when I first moved back from Vancouver. Couldn't ask for a more generous person. My aunt lost a great man-I share in her loss. Rest in Peace Uncle Bob-I know God will enjoy your company. - Posted by: Lawrence Lannoo (Nephew) on: Jan 12, 2016
