NETA (NETTIE) EDIGER Our beloved Neta "Nettie" Ediger was called home to heaven, by Jesus, her Saviour, on January 10, 2016. She passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side. Nettie was born June 1, 1923 in Chortitz, Russia to John and Anganetha Martens. She immigrated with her parents and three older stepbrothers, John, Peter and Jake Martens in 1926. They farmed in the Glenside area near Outlook, SK, where she attended a country school till grade eight and then worked on the farm with her parents, until her older brother Peter took over. She trained as a nursing assistant in Saskatoon and after graduation in 1951, she obtained employment at the Rosetown Union Hospital. She met the love of her life Victor Ediger there. They were married in 1952 and farmed south of Rosetown, SK, where they raised their two sons, Eric and David. In 2014, due to ill health, she moved to Oakbank to live with her son Eric and his wife Brenda Ediger. She was predeceased by her son David in 1979 and her husband Victor in 1997. She is survived by her son Eric (Brenda) Ediger and grandchildren. Erin (Derek) Sawatzky of Altona, MB and Ryan (Tara) Ediger of Oakbank, MB; as well as great-grandchildren, Raena, Abigail and Madeline Sawatzky, and Mikayla and Isaac Ediger. There will be an informal viewing and celebration of her life Saturday, January 16, 2:00 p.m. at the Seasons Funeral Chapel, 576 Balsam Cres., Oakbank, MB. Her funeral and interment will take place Saturday, January 23 in Rosetown, SK.
