GARNETH LOIS VENA RAMSAY (nee MCKELVEY) May 25, 1940 - December 13, 2015 Suddenly on December 13, 2015, at the Victoria General Hospital, Garneth, beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away at the age of 75 years. Garneth was born on May 25, 1940 in Magog, Quebec. The eldest daughter of three siblings. Garneth was predeceased by her parents Percy and Ruby McKelvey, and her husband Peter Ramsay. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Shawna (Grant) Bartlett, sons, Guy Ramsay and Todd Ramsay, grandsons: Evan Bartlett, Colton Ramsay, and Ashton Ramsay, sister Lorna (Denny) Varden, brother Chris (Gloria) McKelvey, her cousins, and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Garneth taught for many years both in Montreal and in Winnipeg and enjoyed working with her students both in the classroom and on various sports teams throughout her career. She loved painting, drawing, writing poetry, card making, crochet and many other artistic pursuits. A gift that she shared with her mother, sister and daughter. She was a very special person with an incredible sense of humour that she managed to keep even during the last days of her life. She could be counted on to be witty and charming at any party with a joke or laugh at the ready. Garneth enjoyed an active life with her family, summers at Clearwater Bay with the kids, golfing with her husband and friends at St. Charles, travelling with her husband Peter on various adventures including fishing on the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans, golfing holidays in Arizona and family trips to Maui for sun, fun and relaxation. More recently, spending time in Florida with her sister Lorna and her husband Denny, and family. Many shenanigans were had. Special thanks from our family to all of Garneth's caregivers, nurses and all the amazing people on 4 North at the Victoria General Hospital for making our time there the best it could be. In keeping with Garneth's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at E.J. Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Garneth be made to CancerCare Manitoba. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO.
