Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTEDDY PAUL BALCAEN June 23, 1956 - January 16, 2016 Surrounded by his family, Ted passed away January 16, 2016. He will be loved and missed by his wife Joan; daughters, Dawn Anne (Kyle) and Christy (Chuck); grandsons, Kobe, Wyatt and Jack; mother Lois; brother Larry (Terry); sister Charlene (Keith); nephews, Cody and Cory; in-laws, Alfie (Diane), Lynn, Barry (Laura), Jayson (Maureen) and his little buddy Boo. Teddy was predeceased by his dad Charlie; mother-in-law Betty; father-in-law Adelard; and special uncle Barney. Ted was very proud that he raised his daughters as strong independent women. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and his family was his main focus in life. Ted and Joan went on many vacations and their annual motorcycle trip on his Harley was the highlight of his summer. His wife was truly his "queen". Ted was proud that he started his career in the Canadian Air Force and was a longstanding member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He excelled at everything he did and had a very successful career as a millwright. He was extremely talented in cooking, decorating, woodcarving, refurbishing and was often referred to by his friends as "Marty Stewart", no one ever went hungry when Ted was around. Ted spent many years enjoying his cabin, where he hosted many hunting and fishing trips. He was a real outdoorsman and loved the remoteness and solitude. There is not a person who knew Ted that wouldn't have a "Teddy Story". He was truly one of a kind. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. In honour of his wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family celebration will be held. Till we meet again "Over Out" Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Oh my,my.. "Teddy-Man" was strickly one of a kind......Steadfast, and hilarious yet true as the white on rice..... He was a great comrade/co-worker/friend and will be missed by all that worked with him even those that worked against him... He never seemed to get mad but always managed to get even,,, I recall him saying, when you know your right.. you don't have to repeat yourself. Also, if you tell the truth you never have to remember a lie....Godspeed with you one and all. The man with the incredible smile... - Posted by: Lynda (Dear) Forman (co-worker Jenpeg) on: Jan 21, 2016
