SPYRIDOULA (SHALINI-ROULA) TALWAR
Date of Passing: Jan 17, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySPYRIDOULA (SHALINI-ROULA) TALWAR (nee BISBIROULA) Peacefully with family by her side, Roula passed away on January 17, 2016. Roula will be missed by many, but may God give strength to her husband Raman, daughter Rita (Rasa) and grandson Oliver to bear this tremendous loss. She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-laws and their respective families in Greece: Maria (Vasili), Thanasia (Georgio) and Vaso (Pappa Pavlo), by her mother-in-law Prem-Lata Talwar and her brother and sister-in-laws and their respective families both here in Canada and in India: Kaushal (Neeraj), Yash (Rachna), Param (Anju) and Annu. Born in Scopia, Greece as Spyridoula Bisbiroula, but she called Roula by those knew her best. She came to Canada in 1967 and fell in love both with the land and her soon to be husband Raman. On September 27, 1974, Roula and Raman married and she became Shalini Talwar. A few years later, September 8, 1980 they were blessed with their daughter Rita. To Roula, Rita was her life. She loved her daughter unconditionally and only wanted the best for her. Family was of utmost importance to Roula. It was her joy to host family events. Her passion for cooking and entertaining is what kept the family coming together even as families grew. She was the anchor of this family and was not going to let them grow distant. Over the years Roula has made many friends and considered them dear to her. She loved you all. Roula has been chronically ill for the past many years, but a new strength to fight was found when her daughter Rita told her she was going to be a Yiayia (grandma). And for the last 16 months she was witness to her grandson being born (September 15, 2014) and every daily change hence forth. Oliver was her Angel. From the moment of her passing, Yiayia will now be his Angel. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. The Hindu ceremony of Shantii Paath will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Hindu Temple, 999 St. Anne's Road. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Jain and staff, to all of the doctors and nursing staff at the Victoria General Hospital, and to her the HomeCare workers. She got to know you all well and appreciated your care and kindness over the many years of illness to her passing.
