DANA LYNN NASKAR
Born: Dec 11, 1945
Date of Passing: Jan 20, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDANA LYNN NASKAR December 11, 1945 - January 20, 2016 Our world is an emptier place today as we say goodbye to our Mom, wife, Nana, family member, and friend. She will be deeply missed and we are aching with her passing. We will miss the baking and a cup of properly steeped, loose-leaf tea, Quiddler, Scrabble and her command of the English language. We will miss her knowledge of British history and proper etiquette, her wit, wisdom and ability to laugh at her own mistakes. We will miss teasing her about her taste in movie stars, CJNU 93.7 radio station and television programs and her staunch defense of each. We will miss her belief in romance and ability to love without judgement. Knowing her was to witness the personification of courage. It takes courage to: - be a wife and mother because your heart is always vulnerable - return to school in your thirties - travel around the world to experience wonder, happenstance and mayhem - follow a dream and write two novels www.risforromance.net - coordinate and attend your first book signing and media interview - be a warm and gracious hostess while battling chemo fatigue - smile, find laughter, and say "I love you" when you would rather sleep Our family would like to thank everyone for their friendship and support during this difficult journey. The love we have received is overwhelming in its depth and volume and we are very grateful. As per Dana's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private celebration of her life will take place in the spring with notice going to her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, we request that you brew a cup of tea and spend time remembering Dana and know how deeply loved she was. So very sad to have to say goodbye to a great neighbour and an even better friend. Whether it be chatting with her over tea & cookies at the kitchen table, or chuckling good-naturedly over the backyard fence about Danny's latest scheme, those memories will live on. And I will smile. - Posted by: Bonnie Bodner (friend/neighbour) on: Jan 26, 2016

It is with great sadness I say goodbye to Dana, a wonderful person, lady and writer. Her historical romances published with us at Melange will be treasured and enjoyed by many over the years to come - a testimony to her talent, strength, and passion for the written word. My sympathies to all of Dana's family. She will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Nancy Schumacher (Publisher with Melange Books, LLC) on: Jan 26, 2016

Dana was a wonderful lady who I had the pleasure of working with back in the 80's in HSC pathology. Many a lunch and coffee break were spent solving the problems of the world and laughing about the ones that we could not solve. It is my regret that we lost touch but so lovely to see that she lived out her dreams. My sincerest condolences to you, her family and friends, for your loss. - Posted by: Marie Butler (Former work colleague) on: Jan 25, 2016

Dear Danny and family: Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. We have only fond, wonderful memories of our dear friend, Dana. Dana was always so full of love, kindness and compassion for her friends and family. We all know how Dana loved to have company over, and we always left her house with a "tummy" full of her wonderful baking. I will miss our "chats" over tea Dana. Joe...I did have a cup of tea in memory of your mother, and I know that Dana was sipping along with me. Marilyn and Fred. We will always keep Dana in our hearts. - Posted by: Marilyn and Fred (Close, long time friends) on: Jan 24, 2016

I am so very sorry to hear that Dana passed away. Naomi, your folks were amongst my favourites of friends' parents and they always made me feel welcome in their home. When I picture your mom, I picture her smiling and laughing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. - Posted by: Robin Kowk-Pernitsky () on: Jan 23, 2016

Dan, we were sorry to hear about Dana's passing. I have thought about her and the article in the Herald about her books brought her to mind again. Should have really known her better but we played together as children but grew apart as adults. The last time we saw her was at my Mom's funeral with you. Hope you and the family are doing well. Also Dean. Our thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Randa and Paul Martel (Randa is third cousin. Had been Randa Taylor) on: Jan 23, 2016
