KERRY ANDERSON-GILLMAN September 7, 1976 to January 15, 2016 A Life of Love Our darling Kerry died peacefully at home on January 15th, 2016, in the place she loved best, surrounded by those who loved her. Kerry was a loving wife to Lawrence Gillman and mommy to Sophie 6, Michael 5, Jack 3 and Claire 1. She was the cherished daughter of Ann and Chris Anderson and loving sister to Amy. Kerry was born in Chingola, Zambia on September 7th, 1976. She returned to England with her parents in 1977, just in time for the birth of her sister Amy. In 1980, the family emigrated from the United Kingdom and settled in Winnipeg. She graduated from St. Boniface Diocesan High School in 1994. Kerry then attended the University of Winnipeg and obtained a BA. Not long after, she chose to follow in her mother's footsteps and enrolled in the Nursing Program at the University of Manitoba from which she graduated with a BN in 2003. It was during her senior practicum experience on a surgical unit at St. Boniface Hospital that she met her future husband Lawrence. Kerry and Lawrence were soul mates and married in 2008. After spending two years living in Calgary following their wedding they returned to settle in Winnipeg in 2010. Throughout her life Kerry dreamed of starting a family. Her dreams were realized with the birth of Sophie in 2009, followed closely by Michael in 2010 and Jack in 2012. Having always wanted a second girl, she was overjoyed with the birth of her angel Claire in 2014. Kerry excelled as a mom. Her endless energy and patience created a warm and inviting household filled with love. Despite her illness over the past year, Kerry succeeded in maintaining normalcy in the children's lives even in the face of potential chaos. The kids' resilience and strength are a testament to her extraordinary parenting abilities. She may have only been in their lives for a short period of time, but already provided them with a foundation that will last a lifetime. Thank you to the amazing staff at CancerCare Manitoba, the WRHA Palliative Care Program and all the staff and Kerry's' former co-workers in the Health Science Centre emergency department for your wonderful care. A special thank you to Drs. Marshall Pitz, Bruce Martin, Pam Hebbard, Belynda Salter-Oliver, Kerry's nurse Trish, and Jill Taylor-Brown who went above and beyond caring for Kerry. We truly have an amazing health care system. Thank you as well, to all those who have already reached out to support us through these tough times. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Ave., with Father Sam Argenziano officiating. Kerry always loved the Teddy Bears' Picnic. Whether as a child, a volunteer or more recently a mom, it was a highlight on her calendar each year. An endowment fund has been set up with the Children's Hospital Foundation in Kerry's name that will be used to purchase supplies and support the Dr. Goodbear Clinic tent and the Teddy Bears' Picnic in perpetuity. Memorial donations may be made to The Kerry Anderson-Gillman Endowment Fund at the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, CE501 840 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1S1 or at www.goodbear.mb.ca. Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Yesterday on a whim I knocked on Chris and Ann's door. I used to babysit Kerry and Amy, and lived directly across the street. I left Winnipeg 25 years ago and thought it would be wonderful to see them. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Kerry's passing. Kerry and Amy were wonderful kids to babysit, we had so much fun dancing around, giggling. Chris, Ann, Amy, I am deeply sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Linda Harvie (Nee Courrier) (Friend/ Babysitter) on: Jan 07, 2017

  • Our condolences from Encore Studios (Promenade Dance Academy). We have many memories of seeing Kerry on Saturday mornings with her boys as Sophie danced. We wish the family peace and healing during this time. All the best. - Posted by: Laura Elliott (acquaintance ) on: Jan 26, 2016

  • I only met Kerry briefly, but offer my sincere condolences to Lawrence and family on your loss. - Posted by: Lisa Letkemann (classmate of Lawrence) on: Jan 25, 2016

  • My dear friend Kerry I will miss you!! The last time we saw each other we laugh until it hurt. I am going so miss you, your kind and gentle spirit and your smile!! R.I.P my friend. My thoughts and prayers to her family. - Posted by: Dawn Barrett (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2016

  • My deepest condolences on the passing of such a beautiful person. I didn't know Kerry very well, but we used to sit beside each other every Sunday as our kids did their swimming classes. She was such a warm, kind person and a wonderful mother. In fact, I used to marvel at her motherly superpowers - her patience and gentleness - and I expressed that admiration to her repeatedly! I saw Kerry this summer when she was sick, and she carried on so bravely and with such grace, lovingly caring for her children as if she wasn't sick at all. I didn't know Kerry well, but she has most definitely left her mark on me and she will be truly missed. - Posted by: Samantha Lapedus (Acquaintance) on: Jan 25, 2016

  • So very sad to hear this news. Kerry always had the biggest smile on every time we saw her and was so supportive of us. The 4 children are beautiful and clearly a reflection of how great of a mother she was. Condolences to Lawrence and the kids. - Posted by: Samantha and Danielle Moreau (Neighboors) on: Jan 25, 2016

  • My late wife Mrs. Cathy Caron taught Kerry at St. Emile School back in the early 1990's. - Posted by: Jim (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2016

  • May her memory be a blessing forever, to her family, husband, beautiful children, and the friends who loved her best. May you find comfort and strength in supporting each other; the unfair loss of a young wife and mother with such a wonderful heart is beyond any words or understanding. - Posted by: C. • Kerry was such a beautiful soul. I have known her for so many years ... we went to elementary and high school together and stayed friends onwards through the years. Kerry was so full of life, it was impossible not to smile around her. She was one of the kindest people I knew, but she also had a sarcastic wit that could keep me laughing for hours. She was one of those people who had beauty inside and out, and her caring attitude was showered on everyone near her whether it was her patients, her coworkers, her family, or her friends. The world is a little less bright without you Kerry, but you lived such an amazing full life while you were here that your light will continue to shine on through those of us that you touched. All my love to the kids, Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, and Amy. - Posted by: Andrea Giacobbo (childhood friends) on: Jan 23, 2016

  • So very sad to see this...Kerry was a wonderful and thoughtful young lady and a good friend to Terry. Chris and Ann and Amy...you are in my prayers as are her husband and children. - Posted by: Michelle Vandenbroeck (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2016

  • She was a wonderful nurse, co-worker and person. My sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Sharon McLellan (co-worker HSC ER) on: Jan 23, 2016
