MARY ALICE PRUE It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Mary Alice Prue on Monday, January 25, 2016 at River East Personal Care Home. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Allan L. Prue; son, Allan G. (Bridget) Prue and grandsons, Ken and Michael; son, Grant Prue; and daughter, Janis (Duncan) McDougall; as well as, siblings Joan Logan and John Patterson. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Florence Patterson. Mom was born on May 17, 1934 to John and Florence Patterson. She lived her entire life in Winnipeg with the exception of a short time in Vancouver where her family moved during the war. As a young girl Mom worked at Eatons until she met and married the love of her life and soul mate, Al. They moved to Transcona where they had a new home built and started their family. Mom was a true homemaker always instilling family values in her children. With her flare for interior decorating and Dad's talents at making her designs come true her home was always revolving into masterpieces of beauty. Family was very important to Mom and she always gathered her family around for Sunday dinners and made every occasion truly special. Mom returned to work part-time at Eatons where she enjoyed her work and the people she worked with. She made many lasting friendships along the way. Mom and Dad purchased a cottage at Grand Beach where we spent our summers enjoying the beach and many friends. When Mom and Dad retired they spent summers at Grand Beach and winters in Texas. They enjoyed trips out East to Kingston and out West to Victoria to visit family. Mom loved her husband, children and home - she was the centre of our family and the glue that held us all together. Mom, we promise to continue the family values and stay close together as you have taught us, we miss you, we love you, we cherish you. You are home. In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation will take place and a celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. Donations in memory of Mom may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald Street 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

We met Mary and Al when they moved in across the street from us in Transcona. We shared lots of laughs and true friendship with them. Our kids grew up together under the watchful eye of Mary. She was a beautiful and giving person with a heart as big as anyone could imagine. You will always be in our hearts. - Posted by: George Phillips (Family friend) on: Jan 27, 2016

Mary, Al and their family were an integral part of our life in Transcona and Grand Beach. Mary was like a second Mom to my brother and I (Deb and Blaine). Growing up with the Prue family, led by Mary, made our youth unforgettable. Well Mary, you and Mom can sip on wine and catch up. - Posted by: Deb and Dean Hitchcock (Friends of the family) on: Jan 27, 2016
