Albert's memory will live on in his children, Daphne (Keith Hayden), Dianne, Larry (Marie), Cynthia (Richard Thompson), Janet (Jamie Dunlop) and Sandra (Terry Dunlop). His eight grandchildren, Candace (Darcy Erlendson), Curtis, Aaron, Angela, Melissa (Karl Helbig), Stacy Jo, Jodi, Jordan; his two precious great-grandchildren, Keira and Alex; and sister Sigurros (Robert Kristjanson). Albert was predeceased by his wife Margaret; parents, Johannes and Emily; brother Mundi; and sister-in-law Ethel. Albert was born on October 28, 1929 in Arnes. He married his wife Margaret on June 26, 1954. They raised their six children in the home he built in Gimli. Albert was the first certified Fire Chief of Gimli. Albert worked for the Town of Gimli for 35 years, retiring as the Superintendent in 1989. He was devoted to his family and always enjoyed the company of family and friends, always there for advice and willing to give a helping hand. He had the ability to fix anything and if it wasn't repairable by Albert, it had to be replaced. Albert enjoyed playing cards, Sudoku and feeding the birds and squirrels. In later years, he became a wonderful cook, he is now famous for his homemade bread, beets and Arnold Palmer meatballs. He was a self-taught violinist, who enjoyed playing any chance he had, especially playing the Gimli Waltz. The family wishes to thank the staff at Gimli Community Health Centre, Nursing, Home Care, Adult Daycare and Seniors Resource. A Special thank you to Dr. R. C. Patel for all his care and compassion over the years. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Gimli Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. In all that you do, your love plays a part - there's always a place for you deep in our hearts. We love you very much, and we will all miss you dearly. Valhalla Heim Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
