FRANCIS JOSEPH DESROCHERS April 1, 1940 - January 29, 2016 Sad to say our Francis has passed away, with his loving wife Charlotte at his side and his children nearby. He was a loving father to Curtis (Pamela) and Leeanne (Geoff), and a devoted grandfather (Papa) to Amber, Ashlee, and Brooke. Survived by his brother Denis (Arlene), nephews Daniel, Denny and Donald, uncles, aunts, cousins, and many great friends. He was predeceased by his parents Marguerite and Albert. Francis worked as a machine operator for CN for nearly 40 years. He liked his job and loved retirement even more - spending many years travelling, especially trips to Yorkton to visit special cousins Cheryl, Michaela and Madison, camping, working in his and Charlotte's beautiful yard, and working on vehicles with Curtis. We would like to express sincere thanks to the medical and support staff who all provided professional and compassionate care to Francis on 5E at St. Boniface Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass celebrating Francis' life will be on Saturday, February 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Church in Anola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Charlotte, Curtis & Leeanne: I was very saddened to hear from my parents about Francis' illness, and then his sudden passing. Our families spent a great deal of time together when I was growing up. I have fond memories of those times.....fishing, camping. Francis had a great sense of humor. He was the silent, kinda quiet type, but being a close friend of my Dad's, Francis and Arnold Sedo used to tease me when I was young and call me Squirt; just like my Dad did. Now that I'm older Charlotte, I can reflect on how close you and Francis were and the great deal of time you two spent together. Very special times and memories. I wish you Charlotte, the kids and grandchildren to find strength in each in this difficult time, and also strength in celebrating the years you shared with Francis. God Bless - Colleen - Posted by: Colleen Speidel (nee Fetterly) (Daughter of close friends Ron & Anne Fetterly) on: Feb 09, 2016

  • Francis was a true believer, it was always a pleasure to look over and see Francis right beside Charlotte. He was a man of few words but his actions of kindness spoke loudly. I offer my deepest sympathy. - Posted by: Sue Johannesson (Friend) on: Feb 04, 2016
