ANNA GUZZI
Born: Dec 20, 1924
Date of Passing: Feb 03, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA GUZZI (nee ABIUSI) Peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, surrounded by love and family, Mom passed away at the age of 91. Mom leaves to mourn her five children, Giovanna Abiusi, Frank (Karen), Tony (Deb), Lucio (Zeny), and Gino. As well, she leaves her 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Bruno (Attilia); and sister, Rosina both in Torino, Italy; as well as her brother-in-law, Angelo Guzzi (Francesca) and sister-in-law Francesca Guzzi of Buenos Aires, Argentina in addition to many nephews and nieces. Mom was also predeceased by her loving husband, Carlo, as well as her first-born son, Francesco; her father, Antonio; and mother Lucia Abiusi; her sister, Caterina Masi (Joe); her son-in-law, Dante; her brothers-in-law, Agostino Guzzi (Angela Rose), and Felice Guzzi (Margherita), Luigi Guzzi (Giuseppina) of Miglierina, Italy; as well as Antonio Guzzi of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mom was born on December 20, 1924 in Miglierina, Calabria, Italy. She dedicated her life to working hard running a bar and raising five children in Italy, while her husband, Carlo, was in Canada trying to start a new life for all of us. After seven years, she joined him in Winnipeg, in 1966. When arriving in Winnipeg she began work as a seamstress and worked very hard until her retirement, to ensure that she provided all of us with a happy life. Her passion was always in the kitchen--everything had to be homemade. She spent many loving hours baking, cooking and canning. In addition, she always found the time to sew us a jacket or a vest. But most, she loved to have family over for lunch or dinner. We would tell her we were coming to visit--to which she would respond, "but you have to come and eat". Mom and Dad were inseparable, always together at home or spending many years at the cottage at Winnipeg Beach. There, she loved to garden and have family and friends join them at the lake. Mom was a very loving and caring person and will be sadly missed by our entire family and many friends. She was a strong woman of faith, and was always ready for the Lord to take her. Psalm 23: 1-6 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the path of righteousness for his name sake. We would like to thank all of the homecare workers in the IRHA, as well as the management and staff at Betel Home in Selkirk, Manitoba, for all of the help and kindness that they provided to our Mom. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue with condolences and viewing one hour prior to the mass. Entombment to follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley Street. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO.
