Dad and Mom's exceptional commitment to each other over 68 years of marriage provided us with a remarkable example of what it takes to build and maintain a strong marriage. Together, they enjoyed travelling to California for 27 years, where they made many good friends. They loved being Snowbirds with their motorhome and their children and grandchildren were always welcomed to join Pepère and Memère. Dad had an immense love for land and nature, making agriculture a natural calling. He spent years as Manager for Manitoba Pool Elevators and then the seed business. He worked the land for a number of years in both St. Pierre Jolys and Piney, and finally focused on Piney with the help of sons Jules, Luc and Richard. Dad's strong business skills and his intrigue in specialty crops led to a successful family farm. A partnership with Jules and Louise and their family would eventually allow Mom and Dad to enjoy many cherished pre and post retirement years. Over the years and through his illness, Dad marveled at the very full and healthy life he enjoyed. He was very proud of his children, grand and great-grandchildren and we will all miss his text messages. Many thanks for the exceptional care and compassion provided by Dr. Mahmood Nasir and the entire staff at the DeSalaberry District Health Centre. Dad's engaging and inquisitive personality led to the development of quite a remarkable relationship with his caregivers for which we are truly grateful. We also would like to thank family, friends and neighbours for their visits and support during Dad's illness. Respecting our father's wishes, a private family gathering has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation would be appreciated. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. • We were so very lucky to have met Paul and his wife Simone at their winter home in California 26 years ago. We spend many hours at the horseshoe pits with Paul, shared more than one glass of wine with them and had a million laughs over the antics they shared with our parents. We were fortunate to be able to visit them several times in their home in St. Pierre Jolys and, with the help of their son Richard, to surprise Paul on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Any time we stopped for a visit either in California or in Manitoba we were always welcomed with open arms, huge smiles and a big kiss. The loving memories of times spent with Paul and Simone will last us a lifetime. Paul, we will miss you.
