Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (LIZ) GAERKE June 12, 1940 - February 13, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Gaerke on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Concordia Hospital, in Winnipeg, MB, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Liz was born in Winnipeg and spent her entire life in the community, while spending many of her summers at Camp Neustadt on Lake Winnipeg. Her primary joys were her family, playing cards and spending time with friends. Liz was known for her zest for life, sense of humour and positive attitude. She is survived by her sons, Paul (Lenora), James (Stella); her grandchildren, Alyssa, Mathew, Alexandre and Larissa. All of whom will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her husband Paul, mother Catharine, father Wilhelm and siblings, William (Bill), Herbert, Mary and Hedy. The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas, as well as the nurses, doctors and CancerCare staff at Concordia Hospital for all of their tremendous support and care to Liz and her family during her frequent visits and numerous hospital stays. The family would also like to thank all of the friends and family who visited and showed their enduring support during this difficult period. Dear Paul and James and families, we were so deeply sadden by the loss of our close dear friend. Liz was a wonderful woman who loved her family and friends so much. We will always remember her fun loving personality and her sense of humor. We will always remember the great times at the Lake, the German club and anytime we got together.
