Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySONIA SOPHIE ROMANIUK October 10, 1933 - February 21, 2016 Early in the morning on Sunday, February 21, 2016, the angels came for our beloved Mother, Baba and Busia. She was predeceased by her husband Myroslaw (Maurice) Romaniuk, her sister Mary Pardowski, brother Bill Fedorchuk, sister-in-law and bingo buddie Rosie Fedorchuk, brother-in-law John Grabowiecki, nephew Casey Kansas and her parents, Ann and Hryhory Fedorchuk. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Barbara (Paul), Marcia (John), Gregory (Donna), Nicholas, Illana and Patrick (Leigh); grandchildren, Shelley (Kelly), Connie (Randy), Marissa (Chad), Leanna, Brandon, Karli (Tyrone), Abby, Lochlan, Callum and Greyson; great-grandchildren, Bailie, Sydney, Lily, Nicholas and Adison, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Sonia grew up on the family homestead just northwest of Tolstoi, Manitoba, where she met and married the love of her life, Myroslaw, in 1954. They moved to Winnipeg, where they raised their six children in a traditional Ukrainian home together until Myroslaw's untimely passing in 1978. Sonia was an exceptional homemaker who devoted her life to creating a loving, caring and nurturing environment for her family. One of the greatest joys in Sonia's life was being surrounded by family and friends, sharing delicious meals, stories and much laughter. Sonia was dedicated to her family and somehow still found time to pursue her love of bingo, bowling and dancing. She was a devout Catholic and very active in the Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church and Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Our family would like to thank Dr. Taras Babick and Dr. Andrea Babick for providing excellent medical care. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff on the St. Francis floor at Holy Family Home for their support and loving care over the last three years. Your kindness and devotion to our Mother will always be remembered. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Fr. Volodymyr Bashutskyy at Blessed Virgin Mary the Protectress Church, 965 Boyd Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Romaniuk, Nick Romaniuk, Patrick Romaniuk, Lochlan Romaniuk, Brandon Romaniuk and John Daughney. Honourary pallbearer will be Paul Wolfe and Roman Korbutiak will serve as crossbearer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, LUBOV, SSMI Foundation, 1085 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB R2W 3S1 or a charity of your choice. I knew Sonia through her children Greg and Nick. She was a lovely woman and I always liked her. Her son Greg was my best friend for most of my life. I'm very sorry to hear of her passing. It was always so nice to walk home from school with Greg and walk into their home where Sonia always had a cheery smile and warm hello for a neighbourhood kid. She was a truly special lady. Dear Cousins, So sorry to hear about Aunty Sonia's passing. The last of the siblings. There are so many great memories most of them related to everyone being at the farm sitting around the table sharing jokes! I hear your mom's laugh just thinking of those times. And of course her and mom aka Thelma & Louise on their road trips, especially the one to Minneapolis. Sorry we are unable to be at funeral tomorrow. Still trying to navigate the USA highway system. We will be thinking of all of you' hope you can feel our hugs. - Posted by: Theresa & John Fleming (Cousin) on: Feb 24, 2016

Dear Marcy, I am saddened to hear of your mom's passing. You were blessed to have her as your mom and she was very blessed to have had such a caring and devoted daughter. Mrs Romaniuk as I knew her was one of the sweetest women I had the pleasure to know. Even though she had 6 children of her own, she always found room at her table for one more. I spent many a school lunch hours there snacking on her wonderful Tuna salad on buns and watching The Young and Restless. She will be forever missed by so many! Hugs to you, John, Marissa (Chad and Adison) and Leanna. Love Lori - Posted by: Lori Butler (friend of family) on: Feb 24, 2016

Your mom touched so many people's lives, and I know we are all enriched by it. Words can not express the heartache we feel for your family. Welcome all the love around you to help ease your pain. Knowing your MAMA, we know heaven just received one of the most special angels. Each one of you are a reflection of your mom in the way you treat people with respect and empathy.
