Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA PRONIEWICZ January 14, 1924 - March 5, 2016 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Maria on March 5, 2016. Maria was born on January 14, 1924 in David Horodok, Ukraine. During the Second World War, she was taken to forced labour in Germany. After the war, Maria lived in Manchester, England for several years before coming to Canada and settling in Winnipeg. She worked in the textile industry, eventually becoming the head of the drapery workroom at Home-Tex Fashions for 20 years. She enjoyed her job and had superior work ethics. Maria enjoyed travelling and visited her homeland of Ukraine, Hawaii and other destinations. She was a longtime member of St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral. Maria was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, her only daughter Pauline in 1965, and her husband John in 1996. She will always be missed and remembered by those who knew her well. Thank you to the staff of St. Joseph's Residence Unit 2, as well as doctors, Terry and Andrea Babick for their compassionate care throughout Maria's stay. Funeral rite will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street with The Reverend Father Alexander Harkavyi and The Very Reverend Father Michael Skrumeda officiating.
