MARGHERITA TROIA September 22, 1922 - March 5, 2016 With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our wife, mother and Nonna, Margherita (nee Lo Bello) Troia. Margherita passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016, with her family by her side and in the comfort of her home. She is survived by her husband Giuseppe, her daughter Francesca, son Francesco and daughter Rosa (Robert); grandchildren, Giuseppe (Amber), Margherita (Eric) and Alexander; her brother, Salvatore (Serafina) and sister-in-law Maria in Italy, many other nieces and nephews in Italy and Winnipeg, and relatives in New York. She was predeceased by her parents Francesca and Erasmo; her brothers Antonino, Francesco (Margherita), Giuseppe and Angelo (Anna) Lo Bello; brothers-in-law in Italy, Antonio (Rosa) and Francesco (Maria) Troia; also brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Winnipeg, Salvatore (Francesca) Troia, Paolo (Angela) Troia and Maria (nee Troia) (Salvatore) Provenza. Margherita was born in Capaci, province of Palermo in Sicily. She was born on September 22, 1922 and she spent most of her younger years in Capaci taking care of her parents and brothers, she was the only daughter of five brothers who doted on her. Margherita and Giuseppe were together for 75 wonderful years. They first met in their late teens and were engaged for 10 years due to the outbreak of the Second World War, they were married on September 27, 1951. Several years later Margherita, along with her son and daughter, came to Winnipeg to be with her husband. After settling in Winnipeg their last daughter was born. Margherita's health was always very fragile; as a result, she only worked a few years doing fine needlework. Her hobby was hand embroidery in which we will cherish her artwork. She was a very reserved, quiet woman who stressed the importance of family and making sure everyone remained connected around the world. Cleanliness and making sure that everyone was well fed was always very important to her, as well as asking her grandchildren how they were doing in school. She spent her entire life in Canada living in the comfort of her own home with her husband, and children and grandchildren always making sure she was comfortable. Special thanks to Dr. T. Panaskevich, she is an angel and was always there for our mother. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., at 11:00 a.m., condolences and viewing one hour prior to Mass, Rev. Fr.
