Our deepest sympathies to Mary, Clifford and Rachael, Jamie and Jeannette and families upon the loss of Edwin. Growing up in Clydebank there are many great memories of living next to the Ryden family. Edwin was a good neighbor and friend and we knew his old black truck when it was coming down the road. One of my fondest memories was a few years ago when Edwin and Mary were visiting my parents and Dad and Edwin were comparing the canes they were both having to use to get around more easily. Edwin, you will be missed as you were a strength to your family and the community. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Thelma and Michael Blahey (Family friend) on: Mar 11, 2016

My uncle was very special to me growing up, he gave selflessly to us after dad (Frank) passed away. When he wasn't giving his time away from Jamie and Clifford to give us five boys some attention, he was teaching us what hard work on the farm was all about. I know Jamie and Clifford didn't think so but for us, cleaning out the pig barn was a novelty and I loved doing it, or picking eggs in the morning for aunt Mary to sell. I will remember riding back from a thanksgiving weekend at Edwin and Mary's on a side of pork in our station wagon that he gave us to take home and have in our freezer. Being part of the capturing, shooting, skinning, gutting of that same pig was certainly an eye opener for this "city" nephew. What I like to remember the most about uncle Edwin is that what ever hard times they had on the farm aunt Mary and uncle Edwin did it together and showed this nephew what a work ethic could get you and family was why you did it. Thoughts and prayers for you all Aunt Mary, Clifford and Jamie and families are coming from Jason,Riley and family. - Posted by: Jason Ryden (Nephew ) on: Mar 11, 2016

Our sincere sympathies to Mary, Clifford & Rachael, & Jamie & Jeannette & family on the passing of Edwin. We are fortunate our families have a Clydebank multi-generational connection as both neighbour & friend throughout the years. Many farming & community conversations have taken place around the kitchen table, in the farm yard, or somewhere in a field or along the road. His community contributions, neighbourliness, and integrity over the years are greatly appreciated. Rest in peace, his loss is felt by many. - Posted by: Wendy & Claude Durand (Family Friend ) on: Mar 09, 2016

My condolences to the Ryden family on the loss of Edwin. I have many fond memories of visiting with Edwin and Mary when I still lived next door and of the many spirited conversations we had over the years. My favorite story was Edwin courting Mary by dumping her off the back of the ski-doo into soft waist-high snow deep in the bush. Amazingly, they still got married. In his time Edwin was a pillar of the community who took his involvement on the various boards and organizations seriously. He will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Chris Beckman (former neighbour) on: Mar 09, 2016
