MARY STEWART Mary Stewart (Hepburn) passed away peacefully on March 7, 2016 in her 93rd year surrounded by her children, Bob Grierson (Shirley), Marilyn Rhind (Bob), Joanne Ackland (Geoff) and Nancy Occhipinti (Roberto). Mary is also survived by stepchildren, Kevin (Gladys) and Paul (Dawn) Stewart and by former spouse Andrew Grierson. Born on December 26, 1922 in Saskatoon, Mary moved to Kitchener, Ontario then on to Winnipeg at 15 years old, where she remained for the rest of her life. Predeceased by her husband, Ross Stewart and sister, Janet Hepburn, she also leaves one surviving brother, Miller Hepburn (Irene). Mary lived a very full life and enriched the lives of those around her. A beloved matriarch, with 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, she will always be remembered for not only her devotion to family, but also for her extensive contribution to the Winnipeg Community, through her involvement with numerous volunteer organizations. Mary was a long time member of the Chown Guild, Past President of the Board of Children's Hospital and a founding member of the Children's Hospital Foundation. She was also an organizer and founder of the highly successful Book Market Fund Raiser, started in the 60s and continuing to this day. Victoria Beach was also a beloved retreat, where at her cottage, she spent and shared many summers, fondly remembered with all of her family. She will be missed. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Aunt Mary always welcomed us into her home. It's been many years since I have been to Winnipeg, but I still remember our visits as happy ones.
