Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • First time I met Don was in 1988, we talked for 6 hours. I bought my first house that day with him being my agent. We ended up calling that house big Arnold. We quickly became good friends and I took the real estate course and got a job at Hart realty. I worked with Don there hosting his open houses, learning more about real estate and renovations. Over the years I spent a lot of time visiting with Don wherever he happened to live, Mcnulty, Hull, Oustic, Arnold, Rathgar, Rosedale, Craig, Stiles, Matlock, and St Marys. We bought Arnold together, which we called lil Arnold, which we renovated and sold a year later. My kids grew up with Don in their lives. One day I brought Travis to Hull during renovations and while Don was showing me his latest project Travis sees a toilet in one of the bedrooms and like a good 3 year old does his business in it. It took Don a few days to figure out where the smell was coming from and how it got there. I loved listening to his stories, from the days of the skinny kid leaving the farm to enlist, his married years, his brag book, to his last years back at home. He always had words of wisdom and encouragement , and an opinion to share. He was a great friend ! May you rest in peace - Posted by: alice gray (friend) on: Mar 14, 2016

  • Had only a few moments but on good one was when we snuck into the fridge and ate some ice cream and then got caught but he said that it was ok and that we could have a few bowls of it. Rest in peace grandpa. - Posted by: Tyndall & Myrrell (Grandchildren) on: Mar 12, 2016

  • I haven't seen Uncle Don since the mid 70's. I remember him as a smiling, energetic, and pleasant man who was well respected by his in-laws. My favourite memory of Don was Ukrainian Christmas 1967 (or was it early 1968); the one time I recall the entire Lasko family assembled at Grandma and Grandpa's. Don played Santa Claus; the thinnest Santa I ever saw, with a slightly drooping beard that revealed to my then 6 or7 year old self who Santa really was. Thanks for the fond memories uncle and may you rest in peace. - Posted by: Gloria Lasko (Niece) on: Mar 12, 2016
