STEPHEN LEE COOK Peacefully on March 11, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family, our loving husband, father, and brother went home to be with his precious Lord and Savior. Stephen was born September 25, 1964, the second of five siblings born to Don and Marilyn Cook of Steep Rock, Manitoba. He grew up and went to school in the Steep Rock area. He married his sweetheart Shawna Ann Thorson on August 19, 1989. They enjoyed 26 wonderful years together raising their family on the farm near Steep Rock. He gave his heart to the Lord as a young man and was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He dedicated his life to being a husband and father. As a Christian his desire was to see each of his children come to know the Savior. He had a big heart and lived for others; his door was always open and many fond memories were made around his dining room table. Stephen was a hero to his kids and each one wanted to be just like him. He had a real love of the land and ranching which he strongly instilled in each of his children. Stephen lived his dream, ranching with his brothers. In later years he was blessed to continue that dream with his own children, nieces, and nephews. Though it hurts to let him go, we know it's not good bye, just till we meet again. Look for us at the Eastern Gate. Stephen was predeceased by his parents Don and Marilyn Cook. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Shawna, and four children Jessica, Jennette, Shiloh and Sarah, brothers; Kris (Shelly), Darren (Brandi); sisters Joanne (Ian) Thorson, Cheryl (Brent) Geransky; sister-in-law Shalom (Jonathan) Cook; in-laws Don and Elsie Thorson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly remember him as the "tickle uncle". Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Faulkner Community Hall with Ian Thorson officiating. A private family burial will take place prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stephen's memory to the Steep Rock Christian Fellowship Missionary Fund, PO Box 1, Steep Rock, MB, R0C 2Y0. • What a great man and true servant of the Lord Jesus Christ Bro. Steven Cook was, and his life speaks of a testimony of a real genuine christian. He will be missed by all, but what a promise we all have that we will see him again in that land that is just one breath away from this old pest house that we live in. May God bless his dear family as they await that great reunion soon. I'm happy to have known him and my life was made richer by seeing his life lived before us all. - Posted by: Bro. • Thinking of Jennette Cook and her family, Stephen will be greatly missed by our whole community. Stephen was such an important member of this farming community. He was well respected, well liked, always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. He was honest, hard working, humble and generous. I will miss working with him but will continue to see his life's work and love for farm life carried on by his children and his extended family. - Posted by: Keri Hudson Reykdal (Veterinarian and family friend) on: Mar 16, 2016

  • Praying for you all. Never forget the "cattle drive" the "boys" brought up the road past the Cook home in Manitoba, when cousin Charity and I came to visit one October, with Joanne and Ian. The guys on horses. Grandpa Don in the truck. Also, all the "ranch hands" came for coffee in Marilyn's kitchen in the morning. God Bless All. - Posted by: Jonell Brandt (family friend of Thorson and Cook) on: Mar 16, 2016

  • To Shawna and all the extended Cook family, our deepest sympathies upon the loss of Stephen. Our family got to know Steven through 4-H many years ago at public speaking events and showing cattle. So sad that Steep Rock has lost another great rancher! - Posted by: Thelma and Michael Blahey (Strong Arm Ranch) (4-H friends and fellow cattlemen) on: Mar 16, 2016
