SHIRLEY MCLAUGHLIN TACKABERRY (nee CHAMBERS) 1932 - 2016 Shirley McLaughlin Tackaberry of Winnipeg and recently of Teulon (under Colleen and Ron's care) has peacefully passed from here to there on March 3, 2016. After a long and strong battle with Alzheimer's disease and recently a hip injury, Shirley has joined beloved husband Donald (2013). Shirley's rich life of crafts, art, travels, family and X-C skiing, work, volunteering, and gardening, among her many pursuits, brought experiences that were considered commonplace in the Tack family circle. Among her many accomplishments were: making and marketing a leather and wool mitt that folks had to have, knitting sweaters and blankets; spinning ornamental clay bowls, sculpting Rodin clay pieces; seeing China, as well as Britain, and much of Canada and the USA with family and friends; managing her extensive family network through ancestry and photo albums; intensive recreation on mostly Manitoba ski trails with friend, food, flask and fun; as a young woman working for GMAC in the Paris building on Portage Ave.; donating time to UNICEF, St. Amant Centre; incredible works with her green thumb. Shirley and family were very proud to have her complete her Grade 12 diploma (1966) at Windsor Park Collegiate, in Donald and Shirley's new Tackaberry family home on Greenwich Bay, which stood as a beacon of support for many family and friends. Shirley was predeceased by husband Donald George (2013), by parents Fred (1948) and Christina (1987), by parents-in-law Edwin (1966) and Mildred (1996) and by cousin (like brother) Jacques Clarke. Surviving Shirley are children and spouses, and (grandchildren), Patrick (Samantha), Robert and Brenda, Colleen and Ron Cox (Kimberly, Karen, Steven), sister-in-law Marion Simpson, and cousin-in-law Concetta Clarke. To all who knew Shirley, we her family salute you for helping create Shirley's world of peace, love, laughing, and caring. The family would like to thank the concerned Seven Oaks and Gimli hospital staff for the gentle and unparalleled care that Shirley received. A service to remember, honour, and celebrate Shirley's unique life will be held Sunday, April 3, 2016, 1:00 p.m., at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street, Transcona, Winnipeg. Refreshments to follow. "In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed" (K. Gibran) Funeral Arrangements in Care of: Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street - 204-224-1525 Please sign the book of memories at www.wheelerfuneral.com
