CHASE THOMAS MARTENS
Born: Dec 09, 2013
Date of Passing: Mar 26, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHASE THOMAS MARTENS December 9, 2013 - March 26, 2016 Sadly our precious baby Chase was called home to be with our Creator. We will forever cherish the beautiful memories he left with us. We will miss his laughter, his giggles, his energetic ways, and the way he would show his love and affection to his mommy and daddy, and his sisters. Chase loved his animals and enjoyed watching his daddy work with machinery. He had an interest in music, enjoyed playing soccer, and enjoyed eating. Chase and his sisters had a special bond. They taught him how to play, sing, and laugh, and never left him out of their activities. He loved his movies, especially "Frozen". His first sentence was, "Let it go!" Every meal time was his favourite time and before the family ate he would bow his head and pray with us. Chase, at two years old, was very intelligent and loving. He gave his family a lifetime of love and happiness in the two years he was with us. Chase will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his parents, Destiny and Thomas; his sisters, Taylor and Danika; great-grandparents, Agnes Thomas, Doreen Bourassa; grandparents, Georgina and Gerald Turner, George and Margaret Martens; aunties, Chasity and Summer, Lisa, Trudy, Hilda, Sarah, Lorna, Pauline, Patricia, and Joanie; uncles, Gerelle and Dave; numerous aunties and uncles, cousins, and other relatives. Chase was predeceased by great-grandparents, Geordie Thomas, Delroy Bourassa, Cornelius and Katrina Martens, Thomas and Justina Gerbrand; uncle Menno and auntie Julie; and cousin, Shaydance Kerol. Words alone cannot express the gratitude we have for those who came and gave of themselves in searching for our baby Chase. The police and fire personnel are to be commended for their determined resolve to find Chase. The family and friends who came to support us and continue to support us bear testament to the meaning of family and friendship. The strangers who came from near and far and offered themselves selflessly have demonstrated to us that human compassion can bridge gaps and differences when people from all walks of life are focused and determined on a common goal, to find our son, despite our tragic loss. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the MacGregor Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, MacGregor, MB with Pastor Abe Gunther officiating. Viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. Wake Services will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016 and Friday, April 1, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chief Peter Beardy Memorial Hall, Misipawistik Cree Nation. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 beginning at the Chief Peter Beardy Memorial Hall, Misipawistik Cree Nation with viewing starting at 11:00 a.m. Service to follow at St. James Anglican Church, Grand Rapids, MB with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Interment to follow at St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Misipawistik Cree Nation. Arrangements entrusted to ANDERSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME Ashern, MB 1 866 293 4951

I often think of your family, I pray for your entire family on this. I cried every day during the search for your beautiful little boy... Praying he would be found. I thought of your family today and that's not new your family's loss affected me. Probably due to the fact I was a new mom at the time to a son. I could never ever even possibly imagine what you're going through no one can. I just wish I could tell you people still pray for you... I am definitely one of them. All the best in life and I will always think of your family and your beautiful son Chase! May he be watching over you all! - Posted by: Brittany (None just a parent ) on: Jan 28, 2017

Our sincere condolences to your family. Your beautiful son captured our hearts from the beginning but there will be no end because Chase will live on in the spirit world forever. It has been said that when a parent loses their young child, they are given the opportunity to finish raising that child when they too reach the spirit world. We will never forget the name and face of your little Chase Martens. He captured the hearts of so many in this great country. How pleasing to see the many people who came together to help your family in your time of need. Chase will be lovingly remembered forever... - Posted by: Marilyn Davis (Caring anishinabe) on: Mar 31, 2016

I prayed for his safe return to his mom and dad and his two little sisters, but it was not meant to be. I wish to send you a big hug with love and care to you as parents and to his big sisters....be kind to yourself and know that Chase is an angel now and that he is so thankful for the love and support he had during his short stay on this earth - he is still with you and will always feel your unending love and support - anyone of us who have had a 2 year old knows how one second they are beside you and the next, they have gone exploring. My oldest son never left my side, my youngest, darted any chance he could. There for the grace of God go I! One does not get closure, one just plows through life, one step at a time and over much time, gradually accepts their new normal. May God's unending love surround you and your family. - Posted by: Vee (fellow parent) on: Mar 30, 2016

We did not the family or Chase BUT our hearts are hurting because of this loss of such a sweet little "cheerio-nosed" angel. God, please look after Chase as he is called home and please, please watch over his parents, siblings, many, many family members and friends as they deal with this tragic situation. Also, to the many people, including a lot of strangers, who searched for Chase, you helped a family find closure on a most tragic situation and now their little man is an ANGEL flying free and with the Angels in Heaven to watch over him. R.I.P. SWEET CHASE, YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!!! - Posted by: Randy and Dianne Spry (Winnipeg Citizens - didn't know Chase) on: Mar 30, 2016
